RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Appointed in writing by the company to carry out the role of Responsible Electrical Person for the project having completed formal assessment by the Group Construction Electrical Safety Manager/delegate.
  • Responsible for providing leadership and guidance to Electrical Personnel and verification/ inspection of the entire Electrical Installation during the Construction and Commissioning phase of the Project.
  • Supervising Contractor Electrical personnel, ensuring they understand Project requirements and monitor Contractor performance, providing feedback where necessary.
  • Manage training and competency assessments of project electrical personnel. Manage Electrical Authorisation register and ensure all Electrical personnel are competent and authorized to work on-board the Installation/module yard.
  • Audit and verify Electrical Construction Inspection and Test Records (ITRs) and Operational Test procedures are completed as per the ECOM system
  • Provide statistic reports to the Group Construction Electrical Safety Manager
  • Liaise with the Group Construction Electrical Safety Manager for Electrical Safety concerns/queries/issues.
  • Liaise with the SBMPC REP throughout the project until the sail away.
  • Ensure concise handover to SBMPC REP is completed, received, and understood.

 

 

MAIN TASKS

Project Electrical Competency

  • Take ownership of the Project Electrical Competency Assurance system.
  • Participate in Electrical Technical Interviews during the recruitment process.
  • Ensure Project Electrical training matrix is in line with industry best practice.
  • Ensure Project Electrical Authorisation Registers are complete and up to date.
  • Ensure Project Electrical competency and authorization assessments are carried out.

 

Project Electrical Integrity Assurance – “Right First Time”

  • Provide support to the Construction E&I Superintendent and Ex Superintendent ensuring that the Project Ex Integrity Assurance plan is followed.
  • Ensure the completion of ITR’s, OTP’s, Ex Registers and project documentation is verified as built.
  • Verify HV/LV Protection Relay settings as per project Protection relay schedule.
  • Ensure Electrical safety tools, equipment and PPE is in good clean condition and calibrated for use
  • Responsible for ensuring Electrical testing procedures are carried out safely and results are recorded on ITRs.
  • As per the Group Electrical Safety Guidelines, control the Electrical Permit to work and verify control of Electrical isolations. All Electrical isolations are to be recorded in the Electrical Isolation log book.Long Term isolations shall be formally recorded and reasons provided for the isolation.
  • Ensure Hard Wired Overrides that exist, are formally recorded and tagged identifying the reason for the override.
  • Liaise with the completions group and participate in final completion check out and approval of inspection and Test Records (ITRs).
  • Assist with the completion of Operational Test procedures (OTPs)
  • Complete the Electrical work scope safely and monitor the installation activities ensuring compliance of system electrical design, drawings, specifications, relevant codes, International standards, and Corporate Engineering Standards are met and inspections are being carried out by the Quality Control (QC) department.
  • Provide advice/solutions to completions group where any system deficiencies exist.
  • Responsible for approving proposed solutions and checking completed corrective actions to close out non-compliance issues that may arise.
  • Assist in maintaining punch list and assist in the verification of items completed.
  • Assist in obtaining work scope descriptions of Electrical punch list items being transferred as carry over work
  • Assist the construction site planner with a daily progress report.
  • Assist other discipline Superintendents/Managers in the preparation of commissioning activities.
  • Liaise with SBMPC Electrical Department Supervisors and ensure comprehensive handover is completed prior to project handover to SBMPC

 

Project Electrical Audit

  • Perform Electrical Safety & Integrity Audits during construction activities.
  • Perform Electrical Training and Competency audits and update the training matrix verifying it is maintained and all personnel are competent and authorized to carry out their roles.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Electrical personnel during construction and commissioning.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Electrical Technician having completed Electrical Apprenticeship to at least HNC / HND, or NVQ Level 3 or recognized equivalent in Electrical Installation & Maintenance Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years’ Oil & Gas experience in Electrical Engineering and/or Construction and/or Project management, with 5 years offshore petrochemical experience with emphasis on FPSO/FSO production installations’.
  • Previous experience in REP role is required. Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Other relevant languages are also desirable.
  • 5 years proven supervisory experience with prior High Voltage Senior Authorised position
  • Excellent practical knowledge of Permit to Work, Electrical Isolation procedures, Risk Assessment and Man Management, Power Management System, Generation on HV / LV
  • Mandatory CompEx Hazardous Areas IEC60079-14 & 17 training must be completed and a valid certificate
  • Courses achieved: HV/LV Relay Protection and HV / LV Switching.
