Job Description
Role Purpose
The AP Team leader is responsible for supervising a team of AP accountant based in Porto, provide support to the AP Local Manager and will have to drive collaboration and alignement between various internal stakeholders and Accounts Payable resources.
You will support the transformation of the AP function (and to some extent contribute to the transformation of the “Purchase to Pay End to End” process) to become a strategic Business Partner, ensuring the proper development / animation of AP KPIs, looking at opportunities of automation, process improvements and process re-engineering.
Process Responsibility
- Lead, train and support an AP team in Porto
- Review and approve payment, meeting specific requirements to ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors.
- Define, apply, and maintain standardized processes and policy.
- Monitor standardized KPIs to evaluate effectiveness and efficiency of the global accounts payable function.
- Support the change process, driving continuous improvement through enhanced cost effectiveness and the pursuit of service excellence.
- Support the innovation, identifying the opportunities of process automation.
- Assist with the development and execution of AP SLA (service level agreement).
- Drive collaboration between internal stakeholders and related organizations focusing on process and workflows.
- Evaluate data to identify business opportunities and risks
- Ensure a strong internal AP control environment.
- Effectively communicate results to management.
- Willingness to challenge the status quo and perform all tasks with an emphasis on developing automation and efficiency.
- Prepare ad-hoc analysis at the request of management.
- Participate in recruitment and train new team members.
- Facilitate staff learning and promote multi-skilling.
- Develops and evaluate employee’s performance, workload and objectives.
- Prevents processing issue escalations
- Deliver effective, timely communication to the AP local Manager.
- Maintenance of policies and procedures
Job Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in leading of Accounts Payable within a shared services center
- Able to communicate and persuade at all levels.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with global ERP systems, IFS is a plus.
- Good understanding of how accounts payable process fits into overall finance process and service delivery
- Good understanding of internal controls & risk management.
- A high level of numerical and analytical skills
