ROLE PURPOSE

As a Business Controller you provide expert advice to contribute to the financial performance of the functions in scope by actively controlling and advising your business stakeholders. While doing so, you embody the SBM Values. The Business Controller is responsible for a true and fair representation of the financial position and indicators for the functions in scope, with the support of the broader Finance team. You advise and challenge the Business on risks and opportunities that may arise as a result of intended decisions. You advise of alternatives/ solutions and therefore ensure balanced decisions are being made. You are responsible for controlling your respective organization, in close collaboration with the Business and the broader Finance team. You ensure applicable finance deliverables are implemented effectively and successfully.

 

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES

  • Actively participate to the yearly budget cycle (including annual operating plan, quarterly reforecasts and bridge with actuals) for the functions in scope;
  • Contribute to the quarterly closing (reforecast and actuals), providing the business perspective and relevant updates;
  • Develop a critical view over the finance deliverables, challenge them, and provide the relevant comments on the financial performance of the functions in scope;
  • Develop relevant KPI’s to monitor the financial performance of the business and to support business decisions, in a timely manner;
  • Support the preparation of the management reports;
  • Develop a trusting relationship with the Business, acting as a finance business partner for the various stakeholders in scope;
  •  
  • Contribute to process improvement and standardization across finance function in application of standard Finance processes;
  • Participate to other ad hoc projects/initiatives.

 

During the closing periods

+ Supervise the production of monthly/quarterly analysis of function’s financial performance and comment main variances;

+ Monitor budget execution.

+ Inform the relevant stakeholders about the financial performance of their respective departments

 

 
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field
  • Experience: 10 years + experience in a related and international environment and/or an audit firm
  • Competencies (knowledge or know-how), which are a key factor for the position:
  • Analytical skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Adaptability and problem-solving
  • Organizational and procedural skills
  • Internal control and reporting
  • Knowledge of IFRS
  • IT tools (Microsoft Office : Excel, Word and Power point), ERP 
  • Fluent in English (mandatory)
