THE ROLE
- Senior Insurance Specialist with a focus on Construction All Risk, Property/H&M, P&I and other corporate insurances and a specific focus on legal support for EPCI contracts and Offshore Installation Contracting insurance clauses.
- Reports to: Head of Insurance
- Liaises externally with clients, lawyers, insurance & claim consultants, brokers, underwriters, insurance companies, loss adjusters and joint venture partners.
- Liaises internally with: Proposal Leads & Sales Managers, Legal Counsels, Contract Managers, Project and Unit Managers and Operational staff on our FPSO’s.
- Located in either the Netherlands (Amsterdam and Rotterdam), Portugal (Porto) or Switzerland (Marly).
RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAIN TASKS
- Providing accurate, relevant, and timely contractual risk reviews to SBM internal clients to the Operational department and Offshore Contracting team, especially in relation to indemnity / liability / responsibility and insurance clauses and determine appropriate types and levels of insurance.
- Procure, negotiate, review and update Group Insurance policies with insurance brokers and insurance companies on the worldwide insurance market / London.
- Collate underwriting information and inform relevant business disciplines on the costs of insurance in reference to bids, projects and the operational fleet.
- Engage closely with external parties, including joint venture partners and clients, and a range of insurance providers and service suppliers
- Ensure compliance with insurance laws/regulations and promote best practice throughout the company.
- Liaise with different roles in the company in order to create awareness and provide general education on insurance requirements, including the development and delivery of online learning/reference material.
- Report to the Insurance team any key insurance issues, claim developments and risks, including lessons learnt and improvement areas for the department and the company.
- Managing and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines from the internal clients, often at short notice.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- University degree or equivalent in relevant disciplines.
- Insurance and/or Risk Management qualifications (ideally).
- Fluent in English is a must (spoken and written), second fluent language such as Dutch, French and/or Portuguese is a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 10 years “in house” experience in a legal / insurance department, preferably in a, Offshore Construction or Oil & Gas company, or 10 years of experience with an insurance broker / P&I Club and/or insurance consultancy company.
- High level of understanding of insurance and risk issues in Offshore Construction and/or Oil & Gas industry.
- Experience in procuring and negotiating Construction All Risk / Builders All Risk insurance for large (offshore) construction projects, Hull & Machinery, Protection & Indemnity (P&I), Offshore Property, War risks and Comprehensive General Liability policies on the international / London / Lloyds of London insurance market.
- Experience in providing legal review in relation to indemnity/liability and insurance clauses in EPCI and Offshore Construction contracts.
