Job description:

SBM Offshore are looking for an energetic, proactive, team player with excellent communication skills and a drive to learn and add value to the organization. The materials & corrosion engineer provides support to asset integrity corrosion lead for the overall corrosion management strategy & implementation for SBMs Fleet. The role includes being able to perform failure analysis on LOPC and providing support to the investigation lead for major Root Cause Analysis. The individual must therefore be dynamic, innovated and have a strategic mindset.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • LOPC assessment and support to Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
    • Ensure efficient and optimized monitoring and follow-up of the LOPCs registered on SBM fleet.
    • Liaise with the Regions to ensure the data collection for LOPCs analysis.
    • Perform Analysis for all corrosion related LOPCs and provide reporting.
    • Provide support to the corrosion lead for the main RCAs (data collection, reporting)

 

  • Improvement of FPSO design
    • Collect return from Experience from LOPCs analysis and provide continuous feedback to the Asset integrity corrosion lead to improve FPSO designs.
    • Participation to Evaluation of new technologies to promote innovation to reduce POB and risk due arising from the management of corrosion issues.

 

  • Support to Asset integrity department
    • Provide corrosion support to the RBA/RBI inspection programs.
    • Analyze inspection results, identified anomalies and failures to identify corrosion trends and make necessary recommendations.

 

  • Support for the Digital Corrosion Monitoring application
    • Provide support to the application Product Owner for improvements to the App7.
    • Provide support for Abnormal behaviors treatment.

 

Job requirements:

Minimum 5 yearsexperience in oil and gas industry, preferable with following additional experience:

  • Developing or using corrosion control manuals/documents for operating plants.
  • Using Risk Based Inspection methodology
  • Background in Oil & Gas: upstream production or refining or petrochemicals.
  • Qualification in corrosion engineering, chemical engineering, or related degree.
  • Previous experience in central role.
  • Ageing plant onshore/offshore experience is desirable.

Behaviours &inter-personal skills - Key points:

Functional requirements to include:

  • Skilled in corrosion and degradation mechanisms within oil & gas industry.
  • Skilled in material selection of hydrocarbon and utility processing units on the basis of life cycle approach.
  • Knowledge of hydrocarbon process and utility systems
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment (pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pumps)
  • Knowledge of coating/lining systems and surface preparation.
  • Knowledge about cathodic protection design for pressure vessels, tanks and Hull
  • Ability to perform corrosion risk assessments considering material properties, process operation (historic/future) and be able to identify the viable degradation mechanisms.
  • Experience with PFDs, P&IDs, corrosion prediction, erosion prediction, cathodic protection calculations, sour service evaluations,
  • Experience with digital applications

 

Specific skills:

  • Familiar with Incident Investigation / Failure Root Cause Analysis
  • Broad appreciation of the other Asset Integrity disciplines
  • General understanding of Asset Integrity Principles
  • Ability to provide technical engineering support to the fleet in relevant disciplines
