The Construction Methods Engineer is assigned to Projects and is responsible for:

  • The issuance of Construction deliverables (Construction Procedures, Work Packs, construction Method statments, etc…),
  • Providing fabrication/construction expertise to the Project team. 
  • He reports to the Construction Methods Section Lead

Role Contribution: 

1) In order to meet Group Environmental Objectives:

  • Ensure that Company Environmental objectives & recommendations are implemented in the Construction Scope of Work & design during Constructability.

2) In order to create a safe working project culture:

  • Ensure that HSSE best practices are implemented in the design during Constructability to insure safe Offshore Operations
  • Adhere to the HSSE plan and enforce its implementation.

3) In order to meet Group/Project Quality requirements:

  • Adhere to the Quality Plan,
  • Contribute to enforcing Group Quality Golden Rules,
  • Interface with the Construction Quality Manager to ensure project quality issues are addressed and implemented across future projects.

4) In order to achieve timely delivery of the Project from the WIN to the EXECUTE phase:

  • Chair Constructability Reviews on the Projects and ensure actions are duly followed up and implemented by the relevant disciplines,
  • Participate in the elaboration of Construction Methods procedures & Construction Execution Plan, and ensure in liaison with the offshore site team that they are well understood and implemented on site,
  • Elaborate Fabrication Yards Scope of Works and participate in the RFQ package preparation and bidding process with Supply Chain & PMT,
  • Participate to the Technical evaluations of offshore subcontractors and fabrication yard offers,
  • Review Built Methodologies and associated plannings and manning from Fabrication yards,
  • Participate to the review of the Project Construction Schedule to ensure adequate logic/sequence of Engineering deliverable and materials ROS vs Construction activities,
  • Give inputs/advises to EPM/DLE during the design phase for all constructability issues associated with the Project,
  • Participate in the review, development and update of the GEMS, Departmental Working Instructions relative to Construction Methods,
  • Handle personally when dictated by particular technical difficulties or particular risks, the necessary aspects of the Construction or Integration activities normally handled by the Construction Team,
  • Provide occasional coverage, during critical activities in Construction Yards, in the Shore Base or on Offshore Facilities during Shut Down.

 

Education

University degree or technical college diploma in Engineering or Materials Science

Functional Competencies: 

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Engineering and Construction in the offshore industry, with particular emphasis on Brownfield or Fleet Support projects

Preferably with multidiscipline background, mainly piping, structural and mechanical
