Principal Piping Material Engineer
As a Principal Piping Material Engineer, you are responsible to carry out assigned tasks and ensuring all required material is functional and accounted for within a design and in compliance with international codes, Company specifications, industry standards and regulations. You may be assigned as a Package Engineer with technical responsibility for the design, procurement, and manufacture of the Packages.
Works in conjunction with Discipline Manager, leads and Engineers to seek Continuous improvement in Piping project tasks/Deliverables and ensure project completion within budget, and schedule without compromising, quality and safety requirements. Comply with Company standard administrative, technical or operating processes and procedures. Should be able to undertake multiple tasks related to discipline development in additional to the project execution. Good communication skills to ensure smooth flow of project information across the team members. A good team player who is capable to work with a diverse team of engineers with a high-level profession.
The Principal Material Engineer may act as Discipline Lead for assigned projects and/or may be designated as a Technical Expert.
Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of international codes and standards like ASME B 31.3 / B31.4 / B31.8, ASTM, API, BS, MSS SP, NACE.
- Must be able to take a hands-on-role in carrying out Piping Packages in accordance with ASME B31.3 / B31.4 and B31.8 codes and standards.
- Leading a Piping Material team within project Organization on Large EPC projects.
- Preparation of scope of work, man-hours distribution; Selection of resources in consultation with head of discipline to meet the specific job requirements
- Provides technical guidance and interfaces with the day to day technical work of discipline Junior Engineers & Freshers in addition to mentoring them with appropriate on-the-job training.
- Must be able to prepare the scope of work, man-hours distribution, allocation of resources in consultation with head of discipline to meet the specific job requirements.
- Able to Review piping material specification, Valve material specifications, Specialty item Datasheets, Piping Bulk MTO and Manual valve MTO.
- Must have knowledge / Handling experience in Procurement activities of RFQ’s, TQs, TCL, TBE & VDR.
- Review & Approval of all Material engineering documents as per project deliverables list.
- Coordination with Engineering Project Managers / Lead Engineers from other Disciplines for the inter-disciplinary tasks.
- Have experience in handling the queries arising from clients, comments from approval authority, contractors or other disciplines.
- Experience in handling of Brown field projects.
- Planning and implementation of the Project to ensure that deliverables are issued on schedule, project milestone dates are met, and given tasks are completed within the allowed budget.
- Adherence to company procedures (Technical, Management & QMS procedures).
- Review the third-party/Vendor documents.
- Proactively address any performance issues and Collaborate with Discipline Manager to continuously improve team performance.
- Manage the interfaces with Clients, Classification society, Vendor, Subcontractors and third-party consultants and ensure relevant documents are reviewed timely and thoroughly.
- Take ownership to define and develop Discipline scope by understanding and evaluating the project requirements.
- Knowledge on the testing requirements for different piping components and Manual Valves.
Job requirements:
- Academic : BE/BTech in Mechanical engineering
- Exp : 15-20 years relevant experience in the offshore Oil & Gas industry Wellhead/Fixed Process Platforms, FPSO topsides modules & Turret Mooring System.
- SW or tools : Expert level in Excel, knowledge in Aveva Engineering & ERM is preferred.
