Project Cost Control/ Estimation

Role Purpose

The Cost Controller acts as a business partner for the assigned remit, accountable for your stakeholders to achieve business objectives in operational effectiveness and efficiency, reliable financial reporting and compliance with laws, regulations, and standards.

Your responsibilities encompass delivering standard, timely, consistent, and robust project controls as per SBM’s project control framework.

You are to give expert advice, offering insights, ideas and recommendations on topics that impact the business, whilst ensuring that the key messages of your expertise area are understood and followed.

You align your work to SBM’s and the relevant expertise area strategy, by proactively planning and completing activity, with accuracy and on-time deliverables.

- Administrate & monitor all financial, invoicing and reporting aspects of projects

- Prepare/review of outputs/analysis prior to delivery to Cost Control Manager

- Harmonize tools & working practices within attributed zone

 

Main tasks 

General

  • Responsible over budgeting and forecasting on allocated projects
  • Harmonize templates & working best practices
  • Develop and maintain cost & schedule control processes for the brownfield projects.
  • Develop and maintain cost & schedule baseline for the projects and report periodically.
  • Develop and implement earned value management process consistently across projects.
  • Participate in peer reviews.
  • Support the Finance Manager on finance activities as required

Budget

  • Budgeting process:
    • Roll out budget timeline to the relevant stakeholders, aligned with SBM schedule and also Partners/Clients requirements
    • Planning allowing timely review with adequate level of management
    • Review consistency of the budget vs. inputs provided by the stakeholders and aligned with planned activities
    • Collate and normalize historical cost data and produce benchmarks using internal/external data and agencies to support the brownfield projects.
    • Strive for proposing/gathering recommendations for optimizations

Forecast

  • Prepare/review forecasts
  • Consolidate and review upside / downsides, ensure completeness
  • Provide Management with recommendations

Closeout

  • Deliver project close out and data capture

 

 

Education and Experience

- Business School or financial & accounting related degree.

- 10 years in Cost Control

- Specific competencies (knowledge or know how) which are a key factor for the position :

  • Accounting, cost control, financial and organizational skills
  • High IT Literacy
  • Good human relations skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Curiosity and pro-activity
