ROLE PURPOSE
As a Cargo Superintendent you directly organize and manage the cargo team in the execution of daily cargo and marine operations in line with the requirements of the management system.
The Cargo Superintendent also liaises with the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM), Heads of Department (HODs), the shore base and external bodies.

 

ROLE CONTRIBUTION
1 In order to ensure all cargo marine operations are carried out effectively and safely YOU ARE TO:
1.1 Ensure that all lifeboats are maintained, certified and fully available, with competent personnel to operate them
1.2 Ensure startup / completion of export operations
1.3 Maintain Optimum Ballast and stability control
1.4 Contribute to the control of critical situations and respond to emergencies
1.5 Carry out maintenance as per requirements
1.6 Ensure all cargo / marine equipment are correctly maintained and certified
1.7 Prepare and isolate cargo / marine equipment for intrusive maintenance as per Code of Practice (COPs)
1.8 Submit directly data reports to the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM)
The measure of your effectiveness in this will be:
 Daily reports
 Letters of protest
 Amos reports
 Audits
 Fact that the HSSE targets for the unit are met
o Incidents reports
o Competency Data base
2 In order to communicate effectively and efficiently with other departments to ensure Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) are managed safely and to support other departments as required YOU ARE :
2.1 To communicate with Heads of Departments (HODs) / Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) to ensure inter department activities are carried out safely and efficiently.
The measure of your effectiveness in this will be:
 Meet the HSSE targets for the unit
o Incidents reports
o Competency data base
o KPIs

3 In order to Effectively lead a Cargo team YOU ARE TO :
3.1 Ensure that the Cargo team has clear objectives aligned with the business.
3.2 Monitor and manage individual and team performance.
3.3 Provide support and ensure individual and team development, training and competence is fulfilled.
The measure of your effectiveness in this will be:
 Regular feedback to the team and formal measurement through the appraisal
 HR Training and Competence KPIs
 Training and Competence Audit outcomes
4 In order to safely meet the cargo targets efficiently and fulfil the contractual obligations YOU HAVE TO :
4.1 Liaise with the Client with regards to bunkering and supply boat operations so that the contractual and commercial obligations are met
4.2 Manage vendors effectively to get the maximum value
4.3 Communicate with the Class and Flag state to ensure legal and regulatory compliance
4.4 Make sure the segregation of garbage is managed correctly in line with the Garbage Management Plan
4.5 Check / Control the rigging and lifting equipment and make sure all are certified
The measure of your effectiveness will be the :
 Daily reports
 Vendor’s cost without extras
 Absence of in force deferral notices
 Emergency Medical service (EMS) reports and Audits
 6 monthly certification campaign reports, Audit
5 In order to achieve knowledge, understanding and compliance with GEMs (Global Enterprise Management System) YOU HAVE TO :
5.1 Act as focal point and technical authority onboard for Classification and Port Captain related matters
5.2 Fulfill Cargo Superintendent accountabilities / responsibilities as described in GEMs
