Electrical Engineer – Operations
Job Purpose:
As an Electrical Engineer, you ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of electrical systems onboard FPSOs. Your role is essential in maintaining operations, troubleshooting issues, and supporting both onshore and offshore teams to meet company and contractual standards.
Job Responsibilities:
You provide technical and operational support for monitoring and maintaining electrical equipment on FPSOs.
You ensure the reliability and availability of electrical systems, meeting company and contractual requirements.
You plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance by preparing work packs, managing procurement, mobilizing vendors, and aligning plans with offshore teams.
You support offshore Electrical Supervisors with technical guidance and maintenance strategies.
You collaborate with Project and Shutdown Teams from commissioning through post-installation phases.
You oversee Ex inspection and repair programs, ensuring technician competency and compliance.
You troubleshoot and diagnose offshore electrical technical issues efficiently.
You ensure that Service Bulletins, GTS, Maintenance, and Safety Alerts are implemented per company guidelines.
You document anomalies in the CMMS and develop technical specifications for rectifications aligned with international and corporate standards.
You lead or participate in Root Cause Analyses for failures and incidents.
You contribute to multidisciplinary risk assessments and provide input during FATs for equipment verification.
You manage obsolescence for PMS systems and protection relays while keeping inventories updated.
You travel to Luanda shore base and offshore units as needed, maintaining familiarity with facilities and personnel.
You oversee and manage key electrical components, including lights, UPS systems, variable speed drives, transformers, motors, HVAC systems, and electrical heat tracers.
Candidate Requirements
Education:
Educated to HNC/HND/BSc or equivalent standard in Electrical Engineering degree.
Experience:
Experience of HV/LV electrical system design, maintenance & operation.
Oil and Gas industry experience preferable.
Practical knowledge of Electrical Isolation Standards, Risk Assessment (RA), Power Management System, HV / LV Power Generation, Protection Relays and system modelling.
Knowledge of electrical equipment in hazardous areas and IEC 60079 standards.
