This Position Reports to:  SBM Operations Finance Manager hierarchically and functionally to Guyana Country Manager.

 

 

Role Purpose

 

As the finance Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for enabling SBM to meet its strategic objectives relative to the financial obligations, by providing expert advice to contribute to SBM’s competitive advantage. While doing so, you embody the SBM Values.

 

The Finance Manager is responsible for a true and fair representation of the company’s financial indicators, the overall quality of work and being compliant with the standards, requirements, and regulations.

You will provide advice, offer ideas, insights, and recommendations, and participate in specific projects as an expert in your area.

 

Responsible for promoting and embedding strong leadership, positive behavior, and culture within your remit, whilst responsible for overseeing and (functionally) managing your expertise area for the global organization.

Core Responsibilities

 

  • Train and handover all below mentioned main responsibilities and tasks and SBM culture and standards to the future Guyana Finance Manager ( successor)
  • Contribute to recruit the future administrative, cost control, finance and accounting team of the shore base.
  • Management of main financial and accounting processes and systems for the Guyana shore base with the support from Monaco finance and IT teams.
  • Responsible for preparing the accounts of SBM local entity.
  • Supervise & monitor the timely financial reporting to Operations manager and SBM Operations Finance Department.
  • Contribute to develop and implement procedures specific to Operations Office to meet local rules and regulations.
  • Ensure that SBM group finance and accounting procedures are properly applied.
  • Responsible for all local tax matters.
  • Raise capital expenditure and investment requests for all fixed asset purchases, in line with Company policy.
  • Adhere to the Company Safety policy and to all relevant Guyana legislation.
  • Prepare and issue monthly financial accounts and operating forecasts for inclusion in the SBM Operations monthly Management Report.
  • Identification of potential overruns and implements the necessary remedial action to eliminate or control such overruns and where unavailable, prepare, submit and obtain approval through the NBV procedure.
  • Prepare monthly accounting reports for review & approval by Area Operations Manager.
  • Prepare yearly Profit Plan for review by Operations Manager & approval by Head Office.
  • Prepare Operations budget, present to Client and receive approval from Client.
  • Prepare and present to Client a monthly cost report showing actuals versus budget and variances analysis.
  • Supervise the monthly invoicing of local operations to the Client.
  • Liaise with local banks and ensure that payment procedures are properly followed. Ensure that all Bank accounts and petty cash are reconciled each month.
  • Consult with the Legal Advisor and coordinate with Government and statutory organizations and ensure that the Company Operations comply with all its legal and statutory obligations.
  • Maintain a record on withholding tax payable/VAT and prepare the monthly return.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of accounting archives.
  • Ensure optimal distribution of cash into the Company's bank accounts and prepare the cash flow forecast.
  • Supervise and review the weekly and monthly cash and bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure that all payments made out of the Company's bank accounts are authorized by approved signatories.
  • Review invoices of major sub-contractors for compliance with contract terms & conditions.
  • Review monthly operating invoices prepared by the accountant. Ensure invoices are issued on a timely basis. Liaise with client for any invoice overdue or in dispute.
  • Establish and maintain contact with the appointed Auditors (internal & external).
  • Responsible of all Internal Controls (ICOFR) for local entity, embrace change to adopt best practice & proposal a culture of change.
  • Participate or manage planning activities in order to provide a clear budgetary and forecasting plan.
  • Provide to the Country Manager & Head office finance department with specific analyses to enhance the cost effectiveness of the operations onshore & offshore.
  • Act as Compliance ambassador within Guyana Shore base organization by promoting ethical and compliant behaviors and ensuring Guyana Shore base operations meet SBM compliance standards.
  • Ensure finance deliverables are implemented effectively and successfully.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree qualified, Business Administration or Finance related discipline.
  • Very good accounting background and sufficient exposure in accounting routines.
  • 5 years minimum experience in a similar field within a multinational company.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • Ability to travel internationally (short term), including offshore.
