SBM Offshore is a world leader in floating production solutions.  Our main activities are the design, supply, installation, operation and the life extension of Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels.  We employ over 6,400 persons spread over eight locations, nine operational shore bases and the offshore fleet of vessels worldwide.

Through our local affiliate, Guyana Deep Water Operations Inc. (GDO), we are the Operator of the LIZA Destiny & LIZA Unity Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessels (FPSOs).

We are seeking to recruit a HR Officer to work onshore at our Georgetown shore base.

 

ROLE PURPOSE:

The HR Officer provides support to HR Business partners and other relevant stakeholders to successfully implement/ execute/ monitor policies/ processes & projects, whilst ensuring a strong focus on SBM values.

 

The HR Officer will interpret, apply and uphold Company policies and procedures with a high degree of customer focus and confidentiality.

 

CORE FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Provide adequate support to employees and managers in the application and execution of all relevant policies & procedures.

 

  • Monitor and support the implementation and execution of HR policies, procedures, processes, and instruments.

 

  • Remain updated with all possible future policies, practices, and trends in the organization, with the competition, and in the marketplace.

 

  • Deploy and follow-up on Group HR projects and annual topics.

 

  • Support in the execution of New Employees integration/ onboarding

 

  • Complete assigned tasks with accuracy and within agreed time frame as well as in compliance with work requirements, applicable employment laws & regulations and applicable policies, codes, standards, regulations, and industry practices.

 

  •  Identify areas requiring more detailed understanding of expectations / policy clarification / clarifying context to the employees.

 

  • Review data, perform analytics and prepare presentations and suggestions for the HR Business Partner and other relevant HR stakeholders.

 

  • Proactively provide customer base with status updates including timely feedback regarding potential issues/ solutions while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and customer service.

 

  •  Maintain and be proficient in software tools used to plan, coordinate, and execute tasks within agreed time frame and budget

 

  • Develop an understanding of the customer base / HR Community/ other relevant SBM Functions orientation and preferences in order to anticipate needs.

 

  • Engage with HR community or other stakeholders to share developments, align approach and pro-actively share best practices to enable continuous improvements.

 

  • Proactively engage with local HR to ensure that the deliveries are aligned with local requirements, on time and within defined budgets.

 

  • Provide strong administrative/ clerical  support to the HR Functional areas to ensure the team as a unit meets its mandates.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

 

  • Minimum Diploma in Human Resource Management or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of HR Experience, in a company of comparable size
  • Working knowledge of Labor Laws of Guyana
  • Excellent communication skills, analytical thinking ability and a strong proactive attitude
  • Accurate, independent, innovative, customer-oriented and flexible work ethic
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Experience to analyze data base and produce reports
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently (unsupervised)
