Instrumentation Engineer, Operations – Guyana

As an Instrumentation Engineer, you are responsible for providing technical expertise to address and resolve technical issues across the fleet, ensuring optimal performance of instrumentation systems and compliance with industry regulations. This role involves supporting audits, offering strategic technical recommendations to enhance operability and business revenue, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within processes and systems. The Instrumentation Engineer plays a vital role in risk assessments and the management of change, promoting best practices to safeguard equipment, functional safety mangement and ensure efficient operation.

 

Responsibilities

  • You provide expertise to resolve fleet technical issues with effective action plans.
  • You support regulatory, internal, and client audits, ensuring compliance and facilitating the evaluation process.
  • You recommend technical strategies to boost operability, enhance revenue, and optimize equipment performance, highlighting related risks.
  • You assist in Technical Risk Assessments (TRA) and contribute to Strategy and Governance, aligning with Class issues, regulatory requirements, and GTS standards. You foster Continuous Improvement by proposing solutions and aligning them with organizational goals, supporting unit operations through expert advice.
  • You conduct Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) for incidents, proposing actions to prevent recurrence.
  • You support the Supply Chain by evaluating technical proposals for services and materials with deviations from standard practices. Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you assess Management of Change (MoC) and QnA, ensuring thorough documentation and evaluation of changes.
  • You develop Technical Notes and Guidelines, enhancing organizational knowledge and compliance. Additionally, you lead Functional Safety Management within the region, ensuring adherence to principles, company standards, and international regulations.
  • You define and execute a 3-Year Plan (3YP) for Instrumentation, supporting budget and strategic initiatives. You facilitate interactions with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors, conducting technical interviews and attending meetings.

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrument Engineering or a related field. An advanced degree or professional certification is preferred.
  • Certifications for Functional Safety such as IEC61511 or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • 5+ years of experience in Instrument engineering roles, with a strong focus on operations within the oil and gas industry, particularly with FPSO systems.
  • Proven experience in Instrument practices, optimizing performance, and implementing projects is essential. Global operational experience is highly desirable.
