SBM OFFSHORE – PAID INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME
SBM Offshore is a world leader in floating production solutions. Our main activities are the design, supply, installation, operation and the life extension of Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels. We employ over 7,500 persons spread over eight locations, nine operational shore bases and the offshore fleet of vessels worldwide.
Through our local affiliate, Guyana Deep Water Operations Inc. (GDO), we are the Operator of the Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessels (FPSOs).
We are seeking to recruit Sustainability Intern to work onshore at our Georgetown shore base.
DETAILS OF THE INTERNSHIP:
The internship programme is aimed at developing students, who meet the established requirements, to prepare them for an exciting and challenging role within SBM Offshore – Guyana Operations. Successful candidates will be afforded the opportunity to gain on the job experience through a multifaced and multidisciplinary integration into Our Company.
The programme will provide opportunities to learn about industry specific processes, standards and methods of working whilst providing practical exposure to aid in the development of a base of knowledge with regards to SBM’s different lines of businesses. This will thus contribute to your attainment of a broad view of how our Execution Centers work collaboratively on a global level to best support our clients.
The Internship programme shall be for a period of eighteen (18) months.
The programme will concentrate on capacity building initiatives that seek to build, mold, and strengthen the necessary skills, expertise and knowledge of the incumbent candidates.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Sustainability Intern will be responsible for conducting research, analyzing project data, and engaging with stakeholders to drive sustainability efforts within the organization. This role requires a passion for sustainability, strong analytical skills, and cross-departmental collaboration to meet organizational goals.
CORE FUNCTIONS:
- Support Sustainability Projects:
- Assist in the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Track and analyze progress, providing reports on impact and outcomes.
2. Research and Data Analysis:
- Conduct research on sustainability best practices to enhance project/initiative effectiveness.
- Gather, organize, and analyze data from sustainability projects to track progress, identify trends, and assess the impact of initiatives.
- Collect data on potential new initiatives to inform decision-making.
3. Project Monitoring and Community Engagement:
- Collaborate with teams to monitor the environmental and social outcomes, ensuring key performance indicators (KPIs) are met.
- Gather community and stakeholder feedback to improve sustainability initiatives.
4. Reporting and Compliance:
- Assist in preparing internal and external sustainability reports, including metrics on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance.
- Ensure compliance with sustainability-related regulations and standards.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work with various departments to integrate sustainability into daily operations and long-term planning.
- Support awareness campaigns and training sessions for employees’ engagement in sustainability
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- Currently enrolled (3rd or 4th year) in a Tertiary institution of Study (University, Business Schools etc.) as part of a Degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent) at a recognized institute of professional studies.
- Must have the potential of being absorbed as a full-time employee of SBM, and ability to work (in the future) standard working hours.
- Must have maintained a consistent GPA of 3.0 or above / consistent passes grade B or above.
- Must be a Guyanese National
- Fluent in English (verbal & written)
- Have a demonstrated ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to be tolerant of differing opinions and views
- Excellent presentation and communication skills (both written and verbally).
- Knowledge of sustainability frameworks (e.g., CSRD, GRI, CDP) and environmental regulations is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for data tracking and reporting.
- Experience in community engagement and stakeholder input gathering.
