Marine Engineer

 

Main responsibility

  • The Marine Discipline Engineer is responsible for supporting the Inspection and Integrity Lead in all matters relating to marine and cargo operations in the respective allocated country/region and providing active support to existing and future marine operations in the Region.

 

Marine Support to the Region Fleet:

  • Review the marine-related Management of Change processes, and ensure they are prioritized and progressing as planned.
  • Support to ensure the marine related Manuals are up to date
  • Provide expertise and technical support for marine systems-related issues
  • Participate in the investigations of marine-related incidents/accidents/equipment failures, ensure the actions are implemented and share LL for the fleet.
  • Support any emergencies in the LECC (Local Emergency Control Center)
  • Review and verify the applicability to the units of all internal SBM alerts such as GTS Alerts, Flash and Incidents Alerts related to the Marine System
  • Collaborate with the budget preparations for the units
  • Ensure and support the Marine Effective Surveillance Program is implemented.
  • Identify PM Optimization Opportunities and communicate to all stakeholders.
  • Accountable for overall Marine System health
  • Maintain System deliverables (KPIs, Report)
  • Engage and coordinate with stakeholders to achieve the Marine Asset Objectives.
  • Lead Marine SOW for the appointed vessel and be the focal point from Offshore demand

 

 

 

When required provide Marine Support to the Future Operations in the Region and other Company Departments:

  • Support the Operability and Operations Readiness Department for the marine discipline by:

o Participating in HAZID, HAZOP during the project phase

o Reviewing Operations Manuals before issue

o Participating in pre-sail away audits in the yards and pre-start-up audits on board the units for marine

 

  • Support and provide marine operational experience to all other SBM departments such as the Assets Integrity, Technical Authorities and the Marine Safety Working Group
  • Ensure Ad –Hoc escalation for relevant Marine-related issues, providing guidance, support and technical advice as required
  • Analyze relevant performance indicators and lessons learned, to promote calibrated Strategy within Short / Medium- and Long-term framework.

 

ABS/FLAG and other support:

  • Assist in maintaining high-level contact with ABS to ensure that the FPSOs fleet 5 years fee agreement and the RRDA agreement are in place allowing effective day-to-day management by the respective Shore bases.
  • Maintain high-level contact with BMA allowing an effective day-to-day coordination by the respective Shore bases of the FPSOs compliance with flag requirements
  • Liaising with Classification Society Head Office on behalf of the local Operations Management for requests for exemption, extensions etc. supporting R&C department.
  • Review incoming Rules and Regulations updates.
  • Keep abreast of technological, market, political, financial, execution and economic developments in the offshore/shipping/shipbuilding and related industries

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

School/studies/degree:

  • Marine Engineering degree and/or STCW COC I/2 or II/1 (OOW – Officer on Watch deck ) or I/2 or III/2 or III/1 (Second Engineer or Officer in charge in engineering watch (preferred Steam or Motor Certificate or equivalent qualification and experience)

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in offshore operations / FPSO experience and/or Sailing Vessels (Oil Tankers, LNG Tankers etc)
  • 5 years Oil & Gas Industry experience
  • Asset Integrity planned Maintenance

 

Specific skills / expertise / product:

  • Ships / FPSO Deck and Engine marine equipment, Main and Auxiliary in general
  • Proven knowledge and experience in all Marine technical systems (cranes, FiFi Systems,  Power Generation, Hp/LP Steam Plants, Engine Room and Cargo Systems, etc..) –
  • Proven knowledge in Lifting and Rigging appliances / Cranes
  • Life-Saving appliances (Lifeboats, Rescue Boats, etc.) inclusive Davits and ancillaries
  • Appropriate knowledge of Technical and Regulatory Standards associated to the above
  • Practical familiarity of computerized maintenance computer system
