MOORING MASTER


As a Mooring Master you are responsible for the berthing and unberthing of all export tankers to  FPSO Terminals. You directly manage the export operations onboard the export tanker in line with the international requirements and the client’s request

 

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITES

 

1 ) In order to achieve export equipment readiness

 

YOU ARE TO :
- Ensure that maintenance is carried out on the tandem hawser and export hose string as per AMOS and the Code of Practice (COP) guidelines
- Liaise with the Logistics Coordinator and FPSO Head of Departments (HODs) to ensure that support vessels, FPSO and cargo are prepared prior to commencement of the export operation

 

2 )  In order to achieve Export tanker approval for loading at the FPSO terminal

 

YOU ARE :
- Responsible for reviewing the export tankers suitability for use at the terminal including but not limited to the tandem mooring  layout, tug securing layout and manifold setup
- Responsible for prompt review of the export tanker suitability for commercial reasons

 

3)  In order to achieve successful completion of Export operations

 

YOU ARE  :
- To supervise the safe transfer of personnel of the export party between the Pilot/Service boat and the export tanker
- To manage tug operations and equipment transfers and maneuvers of tanker to and from berth
- Responsible for managing all export and marine operations associated with an export to an Offload tanker which you will ensure are carried out efficiently, on time and in a safe manner
- Responsible for cargo hose connection and disconnection operations
- To organize the Key Safety meeting with the Offload tanker management team
- To  supervise  the  start-up  and  completion  of  all  export  operations,  during  which  you  will liaise with the FPSO terminal to ensure the operation is completed safely
- To maintain the Offload tanker position during the export operations using the static tow vessel  and  monitoring  the  hawser  tension  load  cell  to  prevent  the  tanker  from  over tensioning
- To  monitor  the  meteorological  and  sea  state  conditions  to  ensure  that  the Offload operation is carried safely inline with the Code of Practice (COP) guidelines


4 ) In order to effectively lead the mooring team

 

YOU ARE :
- To monitor and manage the Assistant Mooring Master / Hose Man performance
- Provide support and ensure individual development, training and competence is fulfilled

 

The measure of effectiveness will be :
•        No export tanker delays and demurrage costs to the client.
•        No reportable incidents in SRS. Appropriate marine certification
•        Client feedback from offtake tankers
•        Company Marine Super intendants annual review of currency
•        Confirmation  that  all  FPSO  and  Tanker  checklists  are  completed  (retain copies of tanker documents & file on FPSO)
•        Compliance with risk assessments
•        Copies retained of key meeting agenda and file on FPSO
•        Reviews of export tankers loading plans.
•        Signed DOS (declaration of security)

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

 

  • STCW II/2 Master of ships of 3000gt or more plus DCE for Liquid Petroleum.
  • Proven 3 years Tandem Berthing experience at open sea berths or internally Qualified Berthing Master, (QBM)
  • Berthing vessels up to 350,000 DWT tonnes.
  • 5 years sea service on VLCC with at least 3 years minimum at rank of Master.
  • GMDSS unlimited G.O.C.
  • Medically fit to offshore International standards such as ENG1 or equivalent.

 

Additional Preferred:

  • Extensive knowledge of offshore FPSO or FSO operations, including Production, Process, Utilities, Marine
  • Maintenance, and Safety Management. City & Guilds in Petroleum Processing Technology
  • Attended Tandem offload simulator training.
  • Attended Management of Major Emergency Training.
