Operations Regulatory Specialist
SBM Offshore is a world leader in floating production solutions. Our main activities are the design, supply, installation, operation and the life extension of Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels. We employ over 7,500 persons spread over eight locations, nine operational shore bases and the offshore fleet of vessels worldwide.
Through our local affiliate, Guyana Deep Water Operations Inc. (GDO), we are the Operator of the Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessels (FPSOs).
We are seeking to recruit an Operations Regulatory Specialist to work onshore at our Georgetown shore base.
ROLE PURPOSE:
As an Operations Regulatory Specialist, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that Offshore Asset operations within their assigned scope continuously comply with applicable international and local regulations (also as assigned), with all related permits, licenses, certificates, and other authorizations, maintained valid at all times.
CORE FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain an effective interface with all Regulatory Body and Recognized Organization representatives (e.g. Surveyors, Auditors) relevant to your assigned scope.
- Remain informed of applicable regulations and related requirements and communicate them as required.
- Provide support to the related Operations Management team(s) in understanding regulatory requirements applicable to their scope and in taking appropriate actions to sustainably meet those.
- Jointly with the Operations Management teams, plan and manage activities required to maintain regulatory permits, licenses, certificates (including notably Class) and other authorizations, valid at all times.
- Maintain regulatory registers and records up-to-date.
- Monitor the continued compliance with and validity of certificates and other authorizations.
- Attend regulatory surveys and audits relevant to your assigned scope.
- Contribute to investigations of regulatory incidents if/as assigned.
- Ensure completion of corrective actions related to your assigned scope.
- Provide accurate reports for internal and external communication.
- Communicate effectively and collaborate with all Stakeholders to ensure effective results.
- Escalate critical issues to Management if required.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- University degree in a relevant field e.g. Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Environmental Science, Law, Quality.
- At least 2 years of experience in a relevant industry sector, e.g. Maritime, Certification, Oil & Gas (ideally including FPSO operations), Petrochemicals.
- Thorough Knowledge & experience working with quality process/ tools in Oil and Gas industry or other relevant industry (eg: Naval) will be an asset
- Experience with office software packages e.g. MS Office 365, SharePoint, Teams, Power BI (or equivalent).
- knowledge about Quality and Regulatory processes / policies in Oil and Gas industry
- Experience in performing System Audits.
- Experience in Document Management Systems
- Experience in data analysis and reporting
- Fluent in (spoken and written) English.
- Available to travel to operating locations, including Offshore on an occasional basis
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to be proactive
- Effective communication skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
