Personnel Logistics Team Lead

 

SBM Offshore is a world leader in floating production solutions.  Our main activities are the design, supply, installation, operation and the life extension of Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels.  We employ over 7,073 people spread over eight locations, nine operational shore bases and the offshore fleet of vessels worldwide.

 

Through our local affiliate, Guyana Deep Water Operations Inc. (GDO), we are the Operator of the LIZA Destiny, LIZA Unity and Prosperity Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessels (FPSOs).

 

We are looking for an experienced Personnel Logistics Team Lead to work onshore at our Georgetown shore base.

 

Role Purpose:

 

As Personnel Logistics Team Lead, you are expected to manage the Personnel Logistics Team for our operational staff in alignment with the rota needs. This includes effectively communicating with assigned personnel, coordinating travel arrangements, and managing assignments as directed by the Personnel Logistics Coordinators.

 

CORE FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure workforce management of Offshore Personnel Logistics Coordinator in providing timely and cost-efficient crew change logistics arrangements across all vessels as for rota-requirements.
  • Champion user of key technology, tools related to the crew to provide best in class crew change logistics
  • Lead team and ensure they have the right level of competence to deliver the work results in time and within budget.                                
  • Monitor the local Meet & Greet process and optimize it (when needed).                              

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personnel Coordination for Offshore Operations:
    • Lead personnel logistics team for offshore and onshore operations, ensuring smooth mobilization and demobilization of project teams to offshore platforms, FPSOs (Floating Production Storage and Offloading units), or other maritime locations.
    • Oversee the scheduling and transportation of personnel to and from offshore sites, in compliance with safety and operational procedures.
    • Lead personnel rotations, ensuring compliance with work and rest hour regulations, and optimizing manpower to meet project demands.

 

 

  • Accommodation & Welfare Oversight:
    • Ensure suitable accommodation arrangements for all personnel at offshore and onshore facilities, maintaining high standards for comfort, safety, and regulatory compliance.
    • Manage logistics for food, healthcare, safety, and recreational facilities for offshore personnel, working to improve overall staff welfare and morale.

 

  • Logistics Planning & Execution:
    • Lead the logistics operations for large-scale projects, ensuring that personnel are properly briefed, equipped, and ready for deployment on time.
    • Develop and monitor the personnel logistics plan, ensuring that personnel numbers and skill sets meet project needs at all times.
    • Coordinate with various departments, contractors, and suppliers to ensure that all personnel requirements are met in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
    • Proactively identify and anticipate changes in operational requirements, ensuring optimized travel routes and accommodation options are available, in alignment with the evolving needs of the country and project development

 

    • Health, Safety, and Compliance:
    • Ensure all logistics and personnel arrangements are fully compliant with SBM Offshore's health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies.
    • Ensure offshore personnel are aware of and adhere to emergency evacuation plans, safety protocols, and relevant HSE guidelines.
    • Track and report on personnel movements, ensuring compliance with international labor standards and local regulations.

 

  • Budget Management and Cost Control:
    • Assist with budgeting for personnel-related logistics, ensuring optimal cost-efficiency in travel, accommodation, and other related services.
    • Ensure that logistics resources are effectively allocated without overrun, maintaining an efficient and cost-conscious operation.
    • Administrate Purchase Orders control

 

  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Maintain comprehensive records of personnel deployment, rotations, and logistics activities, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
    • Provide detailed reports to senior management on personnel logistics performance, flagging any issues, risks, or opportunities for improvement.

 

  • Stakeholder Coordination:
    • Work closely with project managers, HR, and procurement teams to align personnel logistics with overall project timelines and requirements.
    • Interface with external logistics service providers, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth and compliant operations.

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years working experience in a personnel logistics or project coordination role, preferably in the Offshore Oil and Gas industry
  • Training or certification in HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards, offshore safety, or other relevant areas.
  • Experience with logistics and project management software (e.g., SAP, ORACLE, MS Project, Excel).
  • Familiarity with offshore operations, including the specifics of offshore facilities, project timelines, and crew rotation systems.
  • Strong decision-making skills, particularly in managing logistical challenges under pressure in a dynamic offshore environment. Costumer service mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work across cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficient in English

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Monday to Friday, Onshore office hours
  • The role will require eventual offshore visits, and the ability to manage logistics under tight schedules.
  • Occasional travel between offshore units, as well as the coordination of personnel on different rotation schedules, is expected.
  • The position requires flexibility and responsiveness to shifting project timelines and urgent logistical needs.
