Reports To
- Onshore HSSE Engineer (functionally). Day-to-day reporting to the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM)
Background
- The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring the health, safety and environmental compliance of offshore operations. The function is responsible for implementing HSSE policies, procedures, and programs, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards, and managing the day-to-day HSE activities on offshore facilities. As Safety Officer, the incumbent will set exemplary standards in HSE Management, often with a proven track-record on major projects and/or Offshore Operations (ideally both).
Authority
- The Safety Officer has the authority to monitor, implement and regulate safe work practices onboard. Delegates to competent personnel for certain tasks as appropriate.

Pre-hire Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, occupational health and safety or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in HSE management in the offshore oil and gas industry.
- Experience with international HSE regulations and standards, including ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001/45001.
- Experience in servicing/maintaining Fire Fighting Equipment (FFE) and Lifesaving Appliances (LSA).
- Experience of helicopter operations.
- Experience of control and monitoring of all hazardous maintenance activities including hot work and confined space entry.
- NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or regional equivalent.
- Offshore Emergency Response training may be expected for role (Helideck Landing Officer, Fire-Team/Advanced Firefighting, Coxswain)
- Offshore Personal Survival.
- Proficiency in English at a minimum of B2 level according to the CEFR international standard.
- Medically fit according to The Company GEMS Instruction Health Requirements to Work Offshore.
