Role Purpose:

  • The FEA Structural Engineer utilizes experience to support and deliver safe and quality solutions.
  • The FEA Structural Engineer works well and effectively with discipline lead, discipline and inter-discipline engineering team to achieve project objective and ensure quality in engineering delivery in a timely manner.
  • The FEA Structural Engineer prepares and plans own work according to discipline project priorities and deliverables schedule.

Main job responsibilities/ descriptions:

  • Provide technical solutions that account for constructability, integration and installation within schedule and budgetary constraints.
  • Perform calculation and reporting of FEM modelling, meshing, analysis and post-processing of mainly shell and solid structural elements in linear static analysis.
  • Ensure FE model and result interpretation complies with applicable guidance, codes and standards.
  • Experience in calculation and reporting of fatigue and SCF, linear buckling analysis, dynamic analysis and nonlinear analysis using FEM will be an added advantage.
  • Provide Discipline Lead and Discipline Manager with updates regarding FEA activity status and highlight concerns as they arise.
  • Support Discipline Lead to propose technical solution options within the boundary of project constraints and provide response to Classification Societies (ABS, DNV, BV) comment.
  • Work effectively with designers and topsides structural engineer to ensure latest engineering design intend is correctly reflected in 3D model, construction drawing and MTO.
  • Able to work with the inter-engineering disciplines and other project stakeholders to deliver a consistent and compliant design.
  • Participate in discipline meetings to share lessons learned, promote better ways of working and suggest improvement.

 

Job requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in Structural/ Mechanical/ Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in FEA modelling and analysis.
  • Familiar with Femap NASTRAN FEA software or equivalent.
  • Familiar with ABS, BV or DNV rules.
  • Familiar with ABS and DNV guides on fatigue assessment and plate buckling calculations will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in MS Excel macro and scripting language will be an added advantage.
