Job description

Team management

Main missions:

To actively contribute to MDPC’s Asset Integrity Management (AIM) efforts throughout the Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) asset life cycle (design, fabrication, installation, commissioning, operations, late life operations and de-commissioning/abandonment). The Cargo Superintendent will exhibit exemplary leadership, managerial and safety behaviours and will ensure that all aspects of Marine and Cargo operations are carried out effectively. Delegated tasks will be monitored and controlled. The Cargo Superintendent has authority for marine activities such as cargo loading and offloading. He will work with the Marine Superintendent and the OIM as required where the safety of the crew and vessel is concerned. Demonstrate leadership in technical and safety issues.

Manage or contribute to the management of the operation of the Cargo and Marine systems through departmental supervisors.

Liaise effectively with all relevant onshore and offshore departments.

Delegate authority having due regard for competence and verify effective close out of tasks.

Promote safety awareness and broad application of the Management system, codes of practice and prime policies.

Ensure timely and effective close-out of survey and audit action items.

Monitor Management System feedback issues ensuring effective close-out.

Ensure timely and effective contributions to reporting and investigation of all incidents where required.

Start up Marine and Cargo Operations

Monitor and Maintain Marine and Cargo Operations

Prepare and shutdown Marine and Cargo Operations

Manage emergency response with due regard for safety of personnel, FPSO and environment.

Controlled process discharges from area of responsibility to the environment are within prescribed limits
 

  1. Job requirements

School/studies/degree:

•    STCW II/2 Master of ships of 3000gt or more plus DCE for Petroleum /Gas as appropriate

•    Professional engineering certification, and / or intimate working knowledge with international codes, standards, recommended practices such as ASME, API, ANSI and ISO is an added advantage.

Experience:

•    5 years sea service on Crude Oil Tankers, (VLCC preferred) with at least 3 years as Ch/Officer. Additional experience at Master rank preferable.

Specific skills / expertise / product:

  • Good knowledge of offshore FPSO operations, including Production, Process, Utilities, Marine Maintenance, and Safety Management, preferred.

• Knowledge of tanker terminal activities.

• Very good communication skills in English

• Medically fit to offshore International standards such as ENG1 or equivalent.

Leadership: Exemplary safety and managerial leadership skills. Good levels of written and spoken communication in English language. Clear understanding of behavioural personnel issues and logistics. Capable to motivate Senior staff members and teams in general. Flexible in applying different approaches to changing work demands

Technical: Appropriate standard of technical, legal and professional knowledge as defined by competences.

IT: Practical familiarity with standard ‘Office’ software package. Operation and use of Internet and electronic mail system.
