Job Title: Compliance Officer

Location: Kuala Lumpur Office, SBM Malaysia

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the overall compliance matters in Malaysia such as compliance risk assessment, speak-up case investigation, third-party due diligence, business partner advisory, compliance trainings and etc. The person will also support the global project, or other compliance matters in Asia on ad-hoc basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in Compliance and contribute to maintaining the integrity and ethical standards of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Compliance Risk Assessment
  • Identify risk elements based on analysis of local commercial / business context.
  • Perform risk assessments with mapping to local legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Continuously update the risk profiles with the evolving risk scenarios.
  • Raise red flags when identify gaps with internal and/or external requirements.
  • Provide other compliance project support when necessary.
  1. Speak-up Case Investigations
    • Provide support in internal investigations of reported cases and liaise with external resources for complicated matters.
    • Provide support in monitoring and management of speak-up cases and ensure the reports are addressed in a timely manner.
    • Prepare communication initiatives to enhance ethical and integrity awareness and encourage a compliance culture.
  2. Third Party Due Diligence
  • Perform due diligence on external third parties for new and renewal business with continuous monitoring during the full cycle.
  • Identify red flags in business partner engagement and propose mitigations to the management / stakeholders.
  • Draft Due Diligence reports with consolidated information and analysis.
  1. Business Partner Advisory
    • Act as a compliance advisor and provide support to various departments and project teams in all phases of projects on Compliance-related matters.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of Compliance policies and procedures.
    • Liaise with global legal and contract management colleagues and support local legal matters when necessary.
  2. Compliance Training
    • Conduct training sessions to educate employees on Compliance topics and promote awareness of Compliance standards.
    • Stay up to date with local laws, regulations and industry trends, and provide support in adjusting internal practices accordingly.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, legal background (degree or certifications in law)
  • About 5 years of experience in Legal, Compliance field
  • Fluency in English and Malay (written & oral) is required
  • Chinese (written & oral) is a plus
  • Advanced skills in MS Office & IT tools in general
  • Knowledge of the oil & gas / marine energy sector is a plus
