Team management

If yes, supervision of (role(s) profile(s)): Cost Controller / Cost Engineers / Lead Cost Managers

 

Main Responsibility:

  • Responsible for the direction, coordination, implementation, control, and completion of the project cost management while remaining aligned with the strategy, commitments, and goals of the Execution Center.
  • Support project management team through development of cost and schedule baselines, status updates, progress and performance evaluation, variation analysis and change management, forecast to complete, and project reports for projects (2bn$+) executed in the Execution Center.
  • Ensure management is provided with timely review and progress of all projects and activities including completion of monthly project status report and forecasting reporting and endorse suggested corrective actions to maintain the project within planned cost and schedule
  • Ensure that tracking and forecasting, progress monitoring, cost reporting meet specific project requirements
  • Create a cost-conscious atmosphere so that all persons working on a project are aware of how their activities impact the project cost including all applicable Contractual issues.

 

Main missions:

  • Upgrade and ensure proper application of corporate cost control methodology to the project.
  • Maintain a motivated and skilled team of professionals
  • Interface with Planning, Contracts, and Purchasing, Engineering, Construction, and Accounting team members for commercial and technical Input.
  • Acquire advanced knowledge of potential expenditures in order to assist the team in identifying potential overruns early enough for the Project Director to take proactive' corrective actions as required, Analyze project expenditure and develop cost trending.
  • Supervise and train the Cost Team in developing skills at :
    • Minimizing project costs by looking at all activities from a cost reduction point of view.
    • Preparing cost estimates for possible design' project execution changes.
    • Analyzing the project budget, the technical and commercial data using trending' earned value' in-house methods to prepare the monthly project cost forecasts.
    • Assisting in the preparation of the Project Forecast on a monthly basis and consolidate results in the Cost Control Monthly Report (Forecast, Areas of concern, VOs, Budget Variance analysis etc.).
    • Assisting in the formulation of Project Financial Reports destined for the Senior Management of SBM.
    • Identifying and prepare Project Variation Orders for approval by Project Manager and submission to Client.
    • Providing cost information to either verify validity of suppliers change request or as input to change Requests to Client.
    • Providing Commercial' Financial input to the project reports destined for the Client.
  • Ensure good quality of cost information is provided to Data Analysis and Cost Estimating Departments on a regular basis for continued implementation of norms and benchmarking,
  • Conducts detailed review and analysis of project performance control and reporting to understand and articulate key metrics and trending
  • Ensures the preparation and updating of project cash flows and forecasting as required throughout the project life-cycle

 

People Management

  • Creates and maintains a culture and environment that is open and respectful
  • Hires, supervises, coaches, develops and mentors cost controls personnel (Lead Cost, Cost Engineer and Cost Controller)
  • Communicates with Senior Leadership to ensure adequate resources are provided
  • Acts as a key partner to Project Directors, Project Managers, Execution teams and Senior Leadership
  • Communicates with external clients, client groups and partners, vendors and subcontractors as required

 

School/studies/degree:

  • University degree in Finance and / or Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years’experience in the offshore' shipbuilding industries or Infrastructure Project.
