Job Title ICSS SPECIALIST JD23
Reports To: Maintenance Superintendent 
Background: An ICSS Specialist is responsible for ensuring allotted work is carried out safely and efficiently and with
due regard to security of access to ICSS, packages’ control and Safety systems as well as 
communications systems.
Authority: The ICSS Specialist is authorised to maintain Packages’ control and Safety Systems as well as 
Communication systems and equipment. Also, to carry out ICSS Maintenance and Upgrade tasks.
Immediate 
Subordinates ICSS Technician if any, Subcontractors, Visitors, Vendor Representatives, external and ad hoc services.
Accountable For: Typical Responsibilities & Standards
1) Control Access to Radio, Communications, PLCs and HMIs equipment and software
1 Access to cabinets and systems for engineering and maintenance activities is controlled.
2 Correct level of access to the system for various personnel (e.g. Operation and other contractor) exists.
3 Passwords are changed at suitable intervals and a list of issued keys and passwords is maintained.
4 Is responsible for the implementation of all OT Cyber-security measures on board the FPSO. 
2) Maintain the condition of Radio, Communications, PLCs and HMIs equipment and software
1 The spare parts inventory is monitored on a regular basis and stock levels are maintained.
2 Spare parts are appropriately handled and stored.
3 An inventory of the required software/configuration back-ups is maintained.
4 Software/configuration back-up sets are made on a periodic basis and stored appropriately and safely.
5 Revision control is applied to software/configuration back-ups.
6 A master set of drawings and manuals is kept, is readily accessible and is used for maintenance. 
7 The drawing/documentation set is updated with checked and marked up drawings following completion of changes and 
projects. Copies are sent for update of originals on regular basis.
8 The drawing/documentation set is marked up following the identification of deviations between actual situation and the 
documents. 
3) Monitor physical Condition of Radio, Communications, PLCs and HMIs equipment
1 Regular checks are carried out to confirm that critical maintenance is executed.
2 Condition of equipment rooms and cabinets and cleanliness inside was checked periodically and appropriate corrective action 
is taken.
3 The true status of overrides and inhibits is reviewed on a regular basis and system logbooks are maintained. 
4) Recover System Integrity
1 Interpret error messages and use appropriate diagnostic tools.
2 Vendor personnel are guided to perform their activities in a safe and effective manner.
3 Repair faults, communicate with vendor/specialist for help desk type solutions.
4 Guide vendor personnel to perform their activities in a safe and effective manner. 
5) Monitor And Advise On System Changes
1 Verify that any changes implemented conform to the design and are appropriately tested, software back-ups are made and 
drawings have been checked and marked up for as-built status. 
2 Consequences of changes to the system’s configuration or parameter setting are communicated to relevant parties.
3 Records of changes (alarm/trip setting and critical parameters) are kept in logbooks.
6) Contribute to Health & Safety In working Environment
1 Positive action is taken to stop hazards and unsafe behaviours.
2 Alarms are raised as appropriate and/or acted upon using applied policies and procedures or initiative.
3 Colleagues and subcontractors are alerted ASAP of any hazards or potentially dangerous changing conditions.

4 All potential and actual incidents are reported to the relevant supervisor.
7) Supervision (if applicable)
1 Manage the workload of the ICSS Technician. 
2 Assess the competence of subordinate personnel using company competence assurance system and ensure continuous and 
timely progress of subordinate personnel.
3 Ensure probationary and annual appraisals are completed fairly and consistently in timely manner. 
4 Manage welfare and disciplinary issues at team level with appropriate reference to Superintendent, OIM and HRBP.
8) Emergency Response
1 Perform emergency response role.
2 Demonstrate competence during Emergency Response Drills and training exercises.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Proven experience and/or qualified to N/SVQ/HNC/HND or University degree in Electrical / Instrumentation or local equivalent 
• 3 years experience desired with offshore experience preferred.
• Experience and knowledge of hydrocarbon processing systems and utilities.
• Good experience of Permit to Work, Electrical Isolation Standards and Risk Assessment.
• Medically fit to offshore International standards such as ENG1 or equivalent.
Personal Skills
Personal: Safety aware. Conscientious, flexible, versatile and determined. Positive.
Leadership: Good levels of written and spoken communication. 
Technical: High standard of technical and professional knowledge of DCS SCADA systems hardware and software.
IT: Use standard Management System ‘Office’ package electronic mail system.
High levels of skill in diagnostic software and equipment as required
