Duration: one year

Job description:

  • Document all deviations from agreed scope and budget hours to accurately adjust man hour forecast and project completion date for related changes.
  • Ensure previous lessons learned are incorporated into the project to minimize the impact of expected or unforeseen changes; capture new lessons learned and share with Engineering Project Manager and Discipline Manager for future projects.
  • Knowledge in relevant Safety engineering technical software (PHAST, PIPENET, Flaresim etc.)
  • Lead discipline team, manage and ensure quality of Tech Safety engineering work and deliverables, and adhere to project schedule.
  • Monitor Section’s performance progress; to avoid occurrence of any major issues or delay in project progress.
  • Plan and assign department manpower resources against current and expected workload to ensure engineering deliverables are delivered as per the agreed planning package.
  • Proactively track areas likely to change to reduce the “surprise” element, added costs and delays to project
  • To deal with 3rd party specialist for Safety workshops/Risk Assessment/Formal Safety Assessment
  • To ensure that all document checking, and design verification tasks have been completed in accordance with the company and project procedures before formal document issue.
  • To liaise with other design groups, and to co-ordinate the discipline activities with the other groups to achieve the overall project design objectives in the most efficient manner.
  • To Organise, Participate and facilitate in Safety workshops (such as HAZID/HAZOP/SIL, 3D model review, ALARP, HFE reviews and etc)
  • To participate in meetings with Clients, Consultants, Contractors, and Vendors as necessary.
  • To provide guidance in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) as necessary/required.
  • To provide Safety Engineering inputs to purchase requisitions and technical bid evaluations directly and through Safety Engineering team members under supervision to ensure all Safety items are purchased per the project requirements. Ensure the Vendor deliverable compliance.
  • To review and approve Safety design deliverables developed by Safety Engineering team members, e.g. Calculations, reports, data sheets, input to data sheets and specifications, drawings, line lists, etc. to ensure the design deliverables meet the project requirements.
  • To review and approve the Formal Safety Assessment studies (such as FERA, EERA, ESSA, QRA, TRIA, Dropped Object study, ship collision study, SCE PS, HSE Case and etc) and incorporate the safety study findings into design
  • Understand and monitor all interfaces with Class Society and Clients to ensure requirements are properly addressed and relevant documents are reviewed timely.
  • Well versed in international codes and standards, class rules applicable for process safety (such as IEC, ISO, API, NFPA, BV, ABS etc.)

Job requirements:

  • Academic:             Degree/Bachelor/Master in any Chemical or Process Safety/ Safety and Loss Prevention Engineering from recognized university. Other degree holders are welcome while having relevant safety experience.
  • Preferred: Functional Safety certification with relevant experience and able to facilitate internal workshop such as HAZID, HAZOP as and when needed.
  • Exp:                     You have at least 15 years of relevant experience.
  • SW or tools:          MS office, Pipenet and PHAST. Familiarity on CFD tool such as FLACS or KFX is an added advantage.

  • Proactively address any performance issues and partner with Discipline Manager to continuously improve team performance.
  • Promote a positive work environment to keep a high level of employee engagement (e.g., by providing timely feedback to team, supporting staff in development needs). Ensure each team member understands his/her role and responsibilities.
  • Provide coaching and guidance as needed to team members; partner with Discipline Manager for mentoring staff as needed.

  • Strong command of written and spoken English and able to influence other stakeholders in favour of safety.
