Background
- An Assistant Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring the Management system and associated COPs are implemented effectively. They will assist the Safety Officer to ensure all daily operational and maintenance activities are carried out according to Management System requirements.
Authority
- The Assistant Safety Officer acts under the authority of the Safety Officer and has the authority to stop or question any unsafe act by following procedures and direct positive action as described by STOP.

- Visitors, Sub Contractors, Vendors and similar.

Recruitment Only-Generic Functional Competencies
Pre-hire Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in engineering, environmental science, occupational health and safety or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in HSE onshore or offshore in the oil and gas industry.
- Experience with international HSSE regulations and standards, including ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001/45001
- Experience in servicing/maintaining Fire Fighting Equipment (FFE) and Lifesaving Appliances (LSA).
- Experience of helicopter operations.
- Experience of control and monitoring of all hazardous maintenance activities including hot work and confined space entry.
- NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or regional equivalent
- Offshore Emergency Response training may be expected for role (Fire-Team, First Aid). Considered a plus for hiring.
- Proficiency in English at a minimum of B1 level according to the CEFR international standard.
- Medically fit according to The Company GEMS Instruction Health Requirements to Work Offshore.
