Background
- The Control of Work Supervisor act as Permit to Work (PTW) Coordinator to ensure no conflicting activities that work is safely executed in accordance with GEMS Business Processes & Working Procedures.
Authority
- The Control of Work Supervisor has the authority to monitor, implement and verify safe practices onboard. Has an Approver role in the Permit to Work approval workflow.

Accountable For: Responsibilities & Standards
- 1) Manage Control of Work
- 1 Promote an effective risk-based safety culture, with a focus on Health, Safety, Well-being, and Sustainability.
- Be a leader in âDoing the right thing rightâ with Target Excellence goals of âNo Harm, No Defects and No Leaksâ.
- Coordinate and support the proper implementation of all Control of Work tools at the worksite (ePtW. Risk Assessment, Barrier Management, Toolbox Talks, Isolations Philosophy, MoC)
- 2) Implementation of Management System Control of Work elements
- 1 Collaborate fully with other Discipline Heads & Supervisors on board
- 2 Coordinate the correct implementation of the SBM ePtW system, Isolation Standards, Hazard Identification and Task Risk Assessment program, Toolbox Talk standards, Process Safety Barrier Management plan, Management of Change processes.
- 3 Perform Verification and Assurance of implementation of Control of Work tools and Process Safety Fundamentals
- 4 Coordinate and monitor/verify isolations required on all equipment for intrusive maintenance
- 3) Management of Personnel
- 1 Ensure staff & contractors understand their roles and responsibilities in all Control of Work management system elements.
- 2 Promote training and competency assurance throughout the department in line with Company goals for the Unit.
- 3 Encourage and support all department personnel to achieve training and competency targets and plan for appropriate time allocation for this area of work.
- 4 Mentor and manage individual and team performance to increase standards of performance and compliance in all elements.
- 5 Participate in HSSE related training programs.
- 6 Ensure quality and adhere to the Company PTW system for employees and Contractors. Ensure that appropriate risk assessment and verifications are applied to minimize risk to personnel, assets and the environment.
- 4) Emergency Response
- 1 Carry Out Emergency Response role (See Station Bill).
- 2 Demonstrate competence in Emergency Response drills and exercises.
Recruitment Only-Generic Functional Competencies
Pre-hire Qualifications and Experience
- Ordinary National Certificate (ONC) / Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in appropriate engineering subjects and/or N/SVQ Hydrocarbon Processing Operations Level 3 or local equivalent.
- 5 years’ experience offshore as Production Supervisor or Safety Officer, or 5 years’ experience onshore as Production Supervisor or 5 years’ experience as PTWC / CoW Supervisor.
- Knowledge of hydrocarbon processing systems and utility systems.
- Good knowledge of Integrated Control & Safety System (ICSS).
- Supervisory experience of Permit to Work, Task Risk Assessment, Process Safety Management, Mechanical / Electrical Isolation Standards and Risk Assessment.
- FPSO experience.
- Proficiency in English at a minimum of B1 level according to the CEFR international standard.
- Medically fit according to The Company GEMS Instruction Health Requirements to Work Offshore
