RESPONSIBILITIES & MAIN TASKS

General tasks/ responsibilities.

  • The IT Field Support Specialist has to work on four main areas: Support, Monitor, Troubleshoot, Report
  • Interface field specific stakeholders Shore base, Vessels, Construction Yards which require IT support.
  • Update documentation in the IT Operations SharePoint folders.
  • Contribute to weekly or monthly reports
  • Adhere to Change Management and other policies.
  • Maintaining the accuracy of the Offshore and Construction Yard Assets inside the CMDB.
  • Maintain technical skillset with trainings as needed to fulfill the responsibilities.
  • Ensure that offshore systems are within support by maintaining proper lifecycle guidelines.
  • Have familiarity with one or more of the following subjects in the IT competency matrix: System (Compute), Storage Collaboration, Network, WAN Optimization

 

Daily tasks/responsibilities

  • System tasks are stored in the ITSM, ServiceNow
  • All Field Support Specialists must monitor the queue in their area of responsibility and meet the departments SLA.
  • View monitoring systems to keep awareness of any alerts and thresholds to ensure system stability, capacity requirements and network operations for offshore, including VSAT and Offshore Fiber operability. Weekly tasks/responsibilities.
  • Monitor offshore network stability
  • Monitor WAN Optimization performance and stability
  • Ensure that offshore systems are properly patched and backed up
  • Ensure that all offshore lifecycle management ensures all equipment is within manufacturer support. Monthly or Quarterly tasks/responsibilities.
  • Ensure that all systems are enrolled in the Patch Management System, the Monitoring System(s), the Backup System, and the CMDB
  • Work with internal and external audits as needed to ensure compliance with security and access requirements.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Specific skills / expertise / product:

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in System role (Senior or Lead Position)
  • Must possess relevant systems experience – Microsoft Server 2012 and newer; Commvault or similar backup systems; Tape backup, storage principles, preferably Netapp or HP Storage systems
  • Mandatory specialist experience in implementing and maintaining multi site Enterprise level WAN networks using WAN Optimizers and VSAT.
  • Mandatory specialist experience in maintaining Windows 10 Endpoints
  • Preferable experience in VMWare installations
  • Able to propose and design System architecture on a new site and existing System infrastructure.

  • Complete tasks in compliance with applicable standards and work procedures.
  • Identify areas for potential issues and proactively communicate with stakeholders to resolve issues, share information and provide guidance and receive feedback.
  • Seek clarification or guidance as soon as difficulties arise and recommend alternative solutions
  • Perform thorough self-check of all solutions prior to release for use by stakeholders;
  • Properly plan work to allow adequate time for stakeholder feedback and adjustments to ensure intended functionality.
