Operations HSSE Lead

 

Role Purpose

·       You are responsible for supporting and implementing health, safety, security, and environmental initiatives across operational activities.

·       You work closely with the HSSE Manager and other stakeholders to ensure that all operational processes comply with HSSE regulations and standards, driving a proactive safety culture within the organization.

 

Role Responsibilities

·       

  • Clearly communicate role expectations, provide timely, actionable feedback
  • Actively engage EMGL Safety & OIMS Supervisor capitalize on opportunities to collaborate for synergy
  • Support the implementation of corporate standards, procedures, and practices in coordination with the HSSE Manager and key end-users, promoting a unified approach to HSSE.
  • Ensure the HSSE Plan aligns with Corporate, Operations, and Legal guidelines, reflecting SBM Offshore’s dedication to maintaining high standards in health, safety, and environmental performance.
  • Manage the Incident Management System (IFS), ensuring actions are tracked, corrective and preventive actions are implemented promptly, and **lessons learned are communicated across units** to foster continuous improvement.
  • Ensure audit readiness and continuous improvement of the IMS, overseeing HSSE-related actions and ensuring proper assessment and root cause identification.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide support to ensure they are on track, flagging any constraints to the HSSE Manager, fostering a data-driven approach to performance improvement.
  • Stay informed of corporate programs, operational needs, market best practices, client, and legal requirements to facilitate a continual HSSE culture shift, promoting a shared responsibility for safety among all employees.
  • Assess and refine procedures with key end-users (Ops Manager, HSSE Team, OIM) to ensure they are practical and aligned with best practices.
  • Oversee the Contractor HSSE Plan through regular inspections, process audits, and contractor performance reviews, ensuring contractors adhere to SBM Offshore HSSE standards.
  • Support HSSE budget control/revisions and flag any issues to the HSSE Manager, demonstrating financial stewardship in HSSE initiatives.
  • Manage HSSE documents and records, ensuring compliance with SBM Offshore's integrated management system standards.
  • Oversee HSSE training programs (TapRooT, etc) to ensure compliance with industry standards and enhance organizational safety culture.
  • Identify and assess potential risks and opportunities, advise and influence operations teams on mitigation strategies to ensure the safety of operations.

Education

·       Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

 

Experience

·       Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in HSSE roles, preferably within the offshore oil and gas industry or other high-risk sectors.
