DEVOPS Engineer

 

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

As DevOps Engineer, you will join the Digital Solutions Development team within the SBM Offshore Digital Factory.

You will collaborate with data scientists, digital solutions developers, and IT staff to work on ways to automate, improve development and release processes of SBM Digital Factory applications. You will be responsible for setting up development tools and infrastructures, maintaining a set of established processes and ensuring that automation pipelines for developing, testing, and deploying the applications developed by the team work as intended.

Following the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) standards, your role will be to:

  • Bridge the gap between the data scientists and developers and the enterprise architects on IT side.
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain cloud infrastructures and services.
  • Deploy and maintain applications on a cloud-native architecture.
  • Work closely with data scientists and developers within the team to improve development, to design test plans and develop or review automated test case scripts.
  • Strive for continuous improvement and build continuous integration, development, and constant deployment pipeline.
  • Manage production incidents and root cause analysis using troubleshooting techniques.
  • Create monitoring tools to find problems proactively during the entire applications lifecycles to ensure their performance.
  • Mentor and guide the team members in following the processes and using the DevOps tools.
  • Understand project requirements and work with the project manager to accurately forecast man-hours, resource needs, and completion date for deliverables.
  • Proactively address any performance issues and collaborate with Line Manager to continuously improve team performance.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • At least 2 years of proven experience as DevOps engineer or similar software engineering role developing applications within a fast-paced and complex business setting
  • Ability to write robust code in Python
  • Proficient with git and git workflows combined with a strong hands-on experience building CI/CD workflows
  • Deep knowledge of cloud services, Terraform, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker. Azure cloud is a plus
  • Familiar with monitoring tools (Elastic, Grafana)
  • Configuration and managing databases such as PostgreSQL, S3 cloud storage, blob storage
  • Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, React.js
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work in an Agile project management environment
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
