Internship from February 2025 for 6 Months

Introduction                                                          

As part of core business of SBM Offshore as ocean solution provider (i.e. Floating Windfarm, FPSO…), installation at sea of its own product is a key component. One factor of success is the capability to capture offshore experience during project preparation phase. With amount of analyses and deliverables issued from the office, it becomes critical to give clear picture of planned operations with associated limitation in order to collect feedback of our operational team efficiently.

Your Role

There is no cursus that prepares to jump into offshore installation world. Although you will first start working in group and out of your comfort zone on true study case during which you will explore various tools, meet engineering & operational teams of the department as well as presenting your work on each sprint (every 3d).

Based onto this first dive into offshore operations, you will work on solution to make the link in between hydrodynamics software (i.e. Orcalfex) and visualization tool (i.e. Blender) such to enable real representation of offshore operation and calibrate it against our installation vessel records. Purpose is not to improve outputs visualization but as often experienced in such development, explore possibilities offered by powerful tools and adapt it to people you will work made of both office (Installation Engineer) and offshore team (i.e. Offshore Construction Manager).

Job requirements

• • 3rd year of engineering school with mechanical, hydrodynamic or data scientist background;
  • Programming skills and Python knowledge are a plus (learning along the internship);
  • Capability to understand the overall offshore operation combining various engineering discipline;
  • Good written and oral communication skills (English);
