Internship from February 2025 for 6 months
Introduction
As part of core business of SBM Offshore as ocean solution provider (i.e. Floating Windfarm, FPSO…), installation at sea of its own product is a key component. Projects preparation phase are shortened and usual design process involving standard tools and requiring back and forth are not sufficient to match deadlines. Although, as part of digital development, lifting rigging design tool will have to be re-invented and proof tested on live projects.
Your Role
There is no cursus that prepares to jump into offshore installation world. Although you will first start working in group and out of your comfort zone on true study case during which you will explore various tools, meet engineering & operational teams of the department as well as presenting your work on each sprint (every 3d).
Starting from there, you will develop prototype of rigging design tool to be used by all the installation group that you will shape along your work with your own ideas. Merging standard spreadsheet, design and drawing tool will force you to train yourself and other to this new way of thinking and allow you to test your work on live projects.

Job requirements

- 3rd year of engineering school with mechanical, hydrodynamic or data scientist background;
- Programming skills and Python knowledge are a plus (learning along the internship);
- Capability to understand the overall offshore operation combining various engineering discipline;
- Good written and oral communication skills (English);
