Imagine your career taking you to the depths of innovation and the heights of impact. Our people enable continuous progress. Their commitment, collective expertise, and unique capabilities are the engine room behind SBM Offshore’s True. Blue. Transition. - shaping the future of energy, and beyond.
About Us:
SBM Offshore is a global leader in deepwater ocean infrastructure, delivering floating production solutions across the full asset lifecycle—from design and construction to installation and operation. Supported by a global team of more than 8,000 professionals, the Company operates a long-term, asset-backed business model that delivers high-availability assets and predictable cash flows. SBM Offshore combines engineering expertise, operational reliability, and selective innovation to support safe, efficient, and lower-carbon energy production, while extending its capabilities into new opportunities across the blue economy.
Purpose
Ammonia is identified as a promising decarbonization path for maritime transport & power generation.
As part of the Ammonia program development, SBM Offshore has developed several potential products within the Ammonia value chain. On the production side, the Offshore Blue Ammonia FPSO is based upon monetization of offshore associated gas with carbon capture technology and CO2 offshore sequestration, the Nearshore Green Ammonia FPSO is another concept that converts green hydrogen in Ammonia before storage and offload.
On the demand side, SBM is working on Ammonia FSO & FSRU to accelerate distribution to new consumers (bunkering & co-firing) and enter this growing market.
Objective :
Analyse the Blue & Green ammonia supply & demand dynamics to evaluate competitiveness conditions for offshore & nearshore ammonia production concepts and develop a positioning strategy
Responsibilities
• Liaise with technology & Business Development teams for brief on concepts development and market assessment status.
• Analyse the Ammonia market through an in-depth reporting of the Ammonia value chain, including technology providers, main EPC contractors, ammonia producers, ammonia off-takers, traditional & new ammonia consumers. Use will be made of the Rystad environment that contains individual projects developments record and aggregated data.
• Evaluate supply forecast by region based on on-going developments. Evaluate demand forecast scenarios based on regulatory environment. Assess national & regional ambitions correlated with renewable power capacity build-up.
• Report on the main Blue/Green Ammonia projects, either in operation, or in construction phase, or in development phase, with an identification of the project scale (prototype, pilot, at scale projects). Report on the reasons for the commercial attractiveness of these projects.
• Review internal assessment of potential gas field suitable for blue Ammonia production and assess opportunities for IOCs positioning in the Ammonia market.
• Report on the Blue/Green Ammonia prices and its current dynamics with an in-depth analysis of the regional parameters, the offtake contractual mechanisms (CFD, long term fixed prices, etc), and the incentives of the various producing regions/countries (CAPEX incentives, production incentives, carbon efficiency incentives, etc).
• Reports on the market size evaluation and associated risks and opportunities for the development of Blue/Green Ammonia.
• Proposed a positioning roadmap for the Company to progress diversification in the Ammonia value chain.
