Purpose
- Optimization of network infrastructure to ensure reliable and secure connectivity across the organization
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable and resilient network architectures to meet current and future business needs. This involves assessing requirements, selecting appropriate technologies, and overseeing deployment.
- Configure and maintain network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) and software (routing protocols, VLANs) to optimize performance, reliability, and security. Regularly update firmware and apply patches to mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect against unauthorized access, malware, and other cyber threats. This includes configuring firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and conducting regular security audits.
- Continuously monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance. Utilize network monitoring tools to identify and resolve network-related problems proactively.
- Forecast future network capacity requirements based on business growth and technological advancements. Plan and execute network upgrades/expansions to accommodate increased demand while maintaining performance and reliability.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and procedures. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and industry standards (e.g., PCI-DSS) related to network security and data privacy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support their network-related needs and initiatives. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior network staff, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Evaluate and manage relationships with network equipment vendors and service providers. Coordinate procurement, licensing, and maintenance agreements to ensure cost-effective and reliable network solutions.Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures to minimize the impact of network outages or disasters. Test and refine these plans regularly to ensure readiness and effectiveness.
- Stay Updated on Emerging Technologies: Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in networking. Evaluate new tools and methodologies to enhance network performance, security, and efficiency.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CompTIA Network+, CISSP) are highly desirable.
- Specialized training or certifications in network design, implementation, and security are advantageous and demonstrate expertise in the field.
- Proficiency in English (both written and verbal) is essential, as it is commonly used in technical documentation, communication, and collaboration within multinational IT environments.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level network infrastructures.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers, across multiple vendors (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, etc.).
- Extensive experience in network protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and SNMP.
- Strong knowledge of network security principles and best practices, including access control, encryption, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and security incident response.
- Demonstrated expertise in network troubleshooting and performance optimization, using tools such as Wireshark, NetFlow, and SNMP monitoring systems.
- Experience in network capacity planning, traffic analysis, and Quality of Service (QoS) implementation to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
- Proficient in network documentation practices, including creating network diagrams, configuration files, and standard operating procedures.
- Familiarity with compliance requirements and standards related to network security and data privacy (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
- Proven ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing technical guidance, mentoring junior staff, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in network design and security.
