ROLE PURPOSE
Your primary role as a Non-metallic Specialist Engineer is to provide technical support pertaining to the application, deployment, risk assessment and repair methodologies for non-metallic materials to Global SBM FPSO operating fleet. You will also conduct special studies with vendors, technology providers and class society in analyses related to non-metallic materials selection, development and deployment of relevant procedures to ensure the reliability of non-metallic components. You will work jointly with subject matter experts of various engineering backgrounds.
ROLE CONTRIBUITION
- Scout, introduce and support deployment of non-metallic products in various applications in a cost-effective manner for SBM fleet
- Manage the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) qualification of the proposed new technologies from TRL0. If needed, coordinate the tests to be performed for TRL4 and liaise with the operations team for their deployment on the fleet (TRL5 to 7).
- Evaluate value creation of the proposed new technologies through business case over the product life cycle.
- Develop & update existing standards, procedures and best practices related to non-metallic applications.
- Develop, introduce and/or deploy viable non-metallic inspection technologies
- Support failure investigations and produce lessons learned to avoid reoccurrence.
- Provide, review and approve recommended solutions for coating failures and composite applications.
- Review design packages and validate materials selection based on current code and standards.
- Keeps current with significant developments in non-metallic applications, through technical literature, participation in professional and industry society events, etc.
- Participate in value engineering sessions for non-metallic products.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Non-Metallic Materials, Polymers, Chemical, Or Materials Engineering. An advanced degree is preferred.
- 6-10 years of experience in the oil & gas sector with five years of experience in non-metallic materials engineering.
- Demonstrate excellent knowledge and experience in non-metallic products (e.g. piping, tanks, valves, composite structures and parts and components) application, qualification, testing, failure analysis, and technical evaluation.
- Demonstrate familiarity with non-metallic components manufacturing, lining processes, installation, testing and inspection as applicable.
- Demonstrate fluency in English, oral and written.
