Job description
SBM Offshore opened its development branch in 2021 and is currently developing a pipeline of 4GW of floating offshore wind projects worldwide, with 2.1 GW targeted to be operational before 2030.
SBM Offshore relies on a core development team based in Europe, UK, US and Canada supporting integrated project teams, through its joint ventures, worldwide.
You will have the overall technical responsibility on your perimeter for the floating wind farms under development at SBM Offshore. Your role will be two folds.
You will be overseeing siting and environmental aspects of floating wind projects under development. The role is primary about coordination although you need to possess a strong technical background in your field such that you can produce facts when required. Specifically, you will deliver the following services to the projects within our portfolio:
- Provide guidance and advisory to the project team on all environmental aspects
- Contribute to project basis of design for your relevant perimeter
- Coordinate initial site screening and selection at project early stages
- Supervise environmental impact assessment processes on a technical level:
- Contribute to, review and approve scope of works for third party studies
- Contribute to, review and approve scoping documents
- Follow-up progress of the various EIA streams, review and approve work packages
- Maintain an overview of the program, manage the risks
- Coordinate project site characterization activities with support from subject matter experts. This will cover at a minimum geophysical and geotechnical surveys, UXO, metocean studies, wind resources assessment
- Coordinate GIS activities
- Coordinate internal resources allocation to the projects
In addition to project assignment, your role will involve building technical excellence in your domain of expertise. This will mainly consist in:
- Create and maintain technical referential (working procedure, standards)
- Ensure consistency between projects under developments
- Identify and maintain relation with key suppliers
- Follow regulatory and best industry practices evolutions
- Keep up to date with latest technology; join working group / industry programs
- Share technical vision both internally and externally
You will report to the Technical Manager and are expected to interface with the following stakeholders:
Internal:
- Project development teams of each project under development
- Other engineering disciplines
- Supply chain department
External:
- SBM Offshore partners on co-development
- Consultants, engineering companies
- Governmental agencies
- Certification bodies
- Suppliers
Job requirements
- Master engineering degree in marine science, environmental engineering or equivalent
- 10 years of relevant experience working on offshore renewable energy projects
- Previous experience in delivering or coordinating environmental impact assessment studies
- Expertise in marine life and onshore wildlife surveys methodologies and technics
- Knowledge of site characterizations methodologies and technics
- Knowledge in constraint mapping and GIS
- Good knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and policies
