Internship from February 2025 for 6 months

Introduction

The main target of this internship is to yield solid proof on the validation of NiceFlow software by comparing against model tests for a number of tests of particular interest.

Description

To better understand the capabilities of a numerical wave tank, as this is developed by Lemma in the software NiceFlow, on various offshore applications, such as large amplitude vessel motions, i.e., roll, pitch and green water phenomena (large relative wave elevations and freeboard exceedances).

The software shall be tested for a sequence of tests, starting from standard decay tests to actual 3hrs simulations with irregular waves for a variety of tests, the number of which shall be concluded after having identified the necessary simulation time in the first simulation efforts.

Manage the scope and technical difficulties from an engineering perspective

Assist with various technicalities on the CFD part

• In overall, SBM can understand if the NIceFlow software can be used to avoid experiments for specific tests and obtain responses in a robust manner.
