JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Part of our young and dynamic Finance team, report to the Accountant Manager of Operations in SBM Offshore. SBM Offshore is seeking a temporary accountant to support our Close & Accounting team in Porto. This temporary role will focus on addressing accounting data legacy discrepancies related to accrual expenses accounts associated with the operations and maintenance of our FPSOs (Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessels).

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAIN TASKS

 

  • Conduct thorough data validation and reconciliation tasks on the accrual expenses accounts, focusing on legacy issues arising from the migration to the IFS ERP system;
  • Verify the completeness, existence/occurrence and accuracy of accounting data pertaining to operations and maintenance expenses of SBM Offshore’s FPSOs, identifying potential discrepancies;
  • Collaborate closely with the accounting and cost controller teams based in Porto and in Brazil to ensure accurate data validation, cleaning and reconciliation;
  • Analyze financial records and documentation to validate accrual expense entries and ensure compliance with SBM Offshore’s policies and accounting standards, with a particular emphasis on identifying and resolving legacy discrepancies;
  • Document findings, processes, and recommendations for addressing legacy issues and improving data accuracy for future reference and auditing purposes;
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on progress, resolve queries, and address concerns regarding data validation and data cleaning activities, particularly related to legacy issues.

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field;
  • Prior experience in accounting data cleaning or reconciliation roles preferred;
  • Familiarity with ERP systems is desirable;
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, vlookups and data manipulation functions;
  • Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Proficiency in English; proficiency in Portuguese is a plus.
