Purpose

  • As Coating and insulation Engineer within the regions, you are responsible for executing the management strategies written from Monaco HQ and which relate to coating, Passive Fire Protection (PFP), the integrity of the holding tank's Epoxy linings and Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) inspections/surveys within the fleet. You also coordinate, oversee and execute in your region all the inspection/survey activities within these sub-disciplines. This ensures that all coatings, PFP, Tank Lining Integrity (TLI) surveys and CUI inspection activities are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications.

Responsibilities

  • You support the offshore Fabric Maintenance Supervisors / Coating Inspectors in all aspects of Coating work onboard, including the analysis of the Fabric Maintenance baseline corrosion data and the risk-based prioritisation of external corrosion tasks
  • You plan and ensure readiness for execution of external corrosion scopes of work as highlighted within the Fabric Maintenance corrosion management tool to ensure that the Quality Control and management is strictly adhered to and executed as per the requirements of SBM’s Fabric Maintenance Painting Specification.
  • You embark each FPSO and carry out Fabric Mantenance audits at least once per year
  • You oversee all the Tank Lining Integrity (TLI) Surveys, which includes the planning of when the tanks will become available for entry, liaising with 3rd Party TLI Surveyors, managing the execution of the TLI surveys, reviewing the results and defects reported and planning for and executing the corrective actions with the 3rd Party Painting contractor in the tanks.
  • You work closely with your Naval Architect colleagues to manage all defects found during the TLI surveys, particularly the management of corrective actions of localised corrosion in tank bottoms.
  • You upload all of the TLI Final Reports into neo
  • You participate to biweekly meetings with the offshore teams, to ensure follow-up repairs and corrective actions are executed with robust Quality Control
  • You monitor and report to Head Office the progress of the Fabric Maintenance KPI’s and provide feedback locally to the Coating and insulation Lead or Fabric Maintenance Lead.
  • You provide technical support and training to the offshore teams where required, including the Client.
  • You oversee the corrective actions carried out from the PFP and CUI inspection activities.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Certificate/Diploma from a recognised university in Applied Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related fields.
  • Certified Coating Inspector NACE CIP (now AMPP) Level ll, FROSIO Level ll or above
  • Offshore Corrosion Assessment Technician (O-CAT) Certification or Shipboard Corrosion Assessment Technician (S-CAT) Certification or equivalent certification is an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within a similar role with a Fabric Maintenance Coating background (Coating Chemist or Coating Technician),
  • Proven experience in the development of Coatings, Tank Linings, Pressure Vessel Linings, Epoxy Passive Fire Protection and demonstrate proficiencies in the testing of Coatings within a Laboratory environment.
  • Previous experience in the managing of offshore Fabric Maintenance Coating activities is required.
  • Strong knowledge of galvanized surfaces and the differing Corrosion Resistant Alloys such as, 316 Stainless Steel, Duplex Stainless Steel and Super Duplex Stainless Steel and the generic coating types required for these differing alloys.
  • Good knowledge of Epoxy Passive Fire Protection is an advantage.
  • Application of Tank Linings and Pressure Vessel Linings is necessary, therefore, the candidate shall demonstrate competencies in the areas of replacing or repairing internal Lining systems.
