Purpose

  • As DevOps Engineer, you will join the Digital Solutions Development team within the SBM Offshore Digital Factory. You will collaborate with data scientists, digital solutions developers, and IT staff to work on ways to automate, improve development and release processes of SBM Digital Factory applications. You will be responsible for setting up development tools and infrastructures, maintaining a set of established processes and ensuring that automation pipelines for developing, testing, and deploying the applications developed by the team work as intended

Responsibilities

  • Bridge the gap between data scientists, developers, and enterprise architects on the IT side. Configure, monitor, and maintain cloud infrastructures and services, ensuring their optimal performance.
  • Deploy and maintain applications on a cloud-native architecture, working closely with data scientists and developers to improve development processes, design test plans, and develop or review automated test case scripts.
  • Strive for continuous improvement by building continuous integration, development, and constant deployment pipelines.
  • Manage production incidents and conduct root cause analysis using troubleshooting techniques.
  • Create monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve problems throughout the application's lifecycle.
  • Mentor and guide team members in following established processes and using DevOps tools effectively.
  • Understand project requirements and collaborate with the project manager to accurately forecast man-hours, resource needs, and completion dates for deliverables.
  • Proactively address any performance issues and work with the Line Manager to continuously improve team performance.
  • Responsible for ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the development and deployment processes, fostering continuous improvement, and alignment with business objectives.

Education

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering is required. Proficiency in writing robust code in Python is essential. Familiarity with HTML, JavaScript, and React.js is beneficial. Strong knowledge of cloud services such as Terraform, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker, with Azure cloud being a plus. Proficient with git and git workflows, and experience building CI/CD workflows. Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Elastic and Grafana is expected. Configuration and management of databases like PostgreSQL, S3 cloud storage, and blob storage are required. Fluency in spoken and written English is necessary for effective communication.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of proven experience as a DevOps engineer or a similar software engineering role, developing applications within a fast-paced and complex business setting.
