Purpose

  • The primary purpose of this position is to oversee and manage the integrity, security, and effectiveness of Electrical systems across the designated region, with a focus on HV/LV electrical system design, maintenance & operation on FSO/FPSOs and Shore Bases. This role provides expert guidance to operational teams, ensures compliance with safety and electrical standards, and supports system reliability and performance. Additionally, the position involves training and competency assurance of offshore electrical system personnel, supporting digital projects, and contributing to the successful execution of major upgrades and repairs, while also providing technical assistance in root cause analysis and electrical project initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • You lead a team responsible for identifying deficiencies and proposing remedial actions, with a focus on maintaining critical safety systems and optimizing reliability while minimizing maintenance intervention costs.
  • You provide direction to Electrical Supervisors in both technical and maintenance areas, ensuring alignment with operational goals.
  • You collaborate closely with the Procurement team to advise on technical specifications and standards, ensuring that all procured materials meet the required quality and safety benchmarks.
  • You work in close collaboration with Project and Shutdown Teams, offering expertise from the design phase through to post-installation, ensuring successful project execution and compliance with safety standards.
  • You coordinate troubleshooting and diagnosis of electrical issues on offshore installations, ensuring timely and effective problem resolution.
  • You compile and maintain registers (Ex) of electrical equipment, oversee technician performance, and ensure ongoing training and Ex competency development.
  • You participate in and verify commissioning activities related to electrical equipment, including loop checks, to ensure proper installation and functionality.
  • You conduct audits of offshore installations, perform regular site visits, provide supervision and support to onshore engineers, and engage in technical participation for upgrade projects and shutdowns.
  • You attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) for major electrical equipment, such as switchgear, control panels, motors, and alternators, ensuring they meet operational requirements.
  • You support and verify the execution of relevant Global Energy Management System (GEMS) processes, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
  • You compile key learnings from regional assets and suggest improvements to corporate design standards (GTS), contributing to continuous improvement and standardization across operations.

Education

  • ▪ MSc degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent;
  • ▪ Experience of HV/LV electrical system design, maintenance & operation
  • ▪ Practical knowledge of Permit To Work (PTW), Electrical Isolation Standards, Risk Assessment (RA),
  • Power Management System, Power Generation on HV / LV.
  • ▪ Knowledge of electrical equipment in hazardous areas and IEC 60079 standards.
  • ▪ Familiarity with office desktop packages and software-based maintenance systems
  • ▪ Effective communication, report writing, organizational & analytical skills.
  • ▪ Self-motivated, enthusiastic, effective team member and communicate effectively with offshore and
  • Onshore staff at all levels
  • ▪ Ability to supervise, support and mentor engineers within the onshore team.
  • ▪ Ability to travel internationally, including offshore facilities.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as HV/LV electrical system design, maintenance & operation
  • Oil and Gas industry experience mandatory (minimum 5 years)
