Purpose
- To reinforce the Indirect Tax team already in place within the organization, the Indirect Tax Analyst will be part of the Group Tax department assisting with the optimization of processes in place. To analyze transactions falling under the scope of indirect taxes, and ensure compliance with tax regulations, optimize tax efficiency, and provide accurate tax reporting and advisory services to support organizational financial strategies and objectives
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review and/or file accurate and timely tax returns for indirect taxes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and/or local tax regulations. Ensure the accuracy of data declared in the tax returns and prepare the necessary documents/files allowing the Company to claim VAT refunds. Assist in ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations by conducting research, interpreting tax codes, and applying them to financial data. Provide support in tax planning activities, including analyzing financial data to identify opportunities for tax savings and optimization. Analyze financial statements and other financial data to calculate tax liabilities, credits, deductions, and adjustments. Conduct research on tax issues, rulings, and regulations to stay updated with changes in tax laws and their implications. Maintain accurate tax records, documentation, and workpapers in compliance with regulatory requirements. Assist in tax audits by preparing documentation, responding to auditor inquiries, and resolving tax issues under the guidance of senior tax professionals. Assist in preparing tax provisions and disclosures for financial statements in accordance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP). Collaborating closely with internal teams such as Finance, Accounting, and Supply Chain and Legal, the Indirect Tax Analyst will provide guidance on indirect tax implications of business decisions, transactions, and contracts under the supervision of the Indirect Tax Counsel. Additionally, ability to analyze complex tax issues, communicate effectively, and implement practical solutions will be critical to the success in this role.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees such as a Master's in Taxation (M.Tax), International Tax Law, is a plus. These degrees provide a solid foundation necessary for understanding tax mechanisms and policies. Fluency in English is essential for effective communication with internal stakeholders, external auditors, and tax authorities.
Experience
- Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience specializing in indirect taxes, such as VAT/GST, customs duties, and other transactional taxes, preferably within a multinational company or consulting firm.
- In-depth knowledge of indirect tax laws and regulations in multiple jurisdictions would b appreciated. Experience in advising on indirect tax implications for business transactions and operations is a plus.
- Good analytical skills to interpret financial data and tax implications. Good analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret tax regulations and apply them to business scenarios. Experience in conducting tax research and staying updated with changes in tax laws. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, senior management and external advisors.
