Purpose
As an Intern Category Buyer, you will support the Category Management team in developing sourcing strategies, market intelligence, supplier relationships, and procurement initiatives for engineered products and services. This role is designed to provide hands-on exposure to strategic sourcing and category management while leveraging your engineering background to bridge technical and commercial requirements.
You will contribute to supplier evaluations, cost optimization initiatives, market analysis, and continuous improvement projects, gaining valuable experience in both procurement and the offshore energy industry.
Responsibilities
- Support Category Managers and Category Buyers in executing category strategies and sourcing initiatives.
- Conduct market research and supplier benchmarking for equipment, materials, and engineering services.
- Analyze technical and commercial data to support sourcing decisions and supplier selection.
- Assist in the preparation of RFQs, bid evaluations, and supplier comparison analyses.
- Support the development of cost models and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) assessments.
- Participate in supplier performance monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to spend analysis, reporting, and KPI monitoring activities.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Projects, Operations, and Supply Chain stakeholders to understand technical requirements and market capabilities.
- Assist in the preparation of presentations, reports, and procurement recommendations.
- Support digitalization and process improvement projects within the Procurement organization.
Education
Recently graduated, or in the final year of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Marine Engineering
- Production Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Materials Engineering
- Other relevant Engineering disciplines
