Background

  • The Production Technician is responsible for operating plant process and utility systems effectively and safely, always ensuring strict adherence to procedures. Compliance with GEMS and local regulatory requirements must be maintained in all aspects of work.
  • The Production Technician is also responsible for executing maintenance and preservation tasks efficiently and safely to ensure the reliability and longevity of equipment. This role involves performing a variety of maintenance and preservation activities, including but not limited to cleaning, housekeeping, blasting, spraying/painting, isolation and reinstatement, greasing application, and the preservation of topside flanges and bolts. The technician is also responsible for ensuring that his supervisor is made aware of all activities according to procedure, especially when safety is an issue.
  • The production technician will demonstrate exemplary safety awareness and technical competence in all aspects of maintenance and preservation work on and around the vessel.

Authority

  • The Production Technician is authorized to operate the process and utility systems safely and efficiently and help to prepare such plant for maintenance.

  • Subcontractors, Visitors, Vendors, external and unplanned or temporary services.

Accountable For: Responsibilities & Standards

  • 1) Process
  • 1
  • Start up, Operate, Monitor and Shut Down Process and Utility systems.
  • 2
  • Monitor, maintain and optimize process parameters (Level, flow, temperature, pressure etc.) within operating requirements.
  • 3 Ensure sampling is carried out and sample results are acted upon.
  • 4 Trouble shoot to maximize sales quality and delivery volume to identify problems.
  • 5 Maintain discharge water quality within current O &M Contractor or local guidelines.
  • 6 Monitor and operate electrical/hydraulic control panels, safety and emergency shutdown devices, Fire and Gas Systems.
  • 7 Ensure accurate and timely production reporting and logging is submitted daily or as required by company.
  • 8 Witness third party calibrations when appropriate to provide verification of meter factors and volumes.
  • 9 Prove export oil meters.
  • 2) Marine/Safety
  • 1 Work as directed by Management System policies and procedures in particular Isolation Standards, and PTW.
  • 2 Carry out all operations in safe and environmentally sound manner.
  • 3 Report all discharges, leaks, spills, injuries, and incidents, immediately.
  • 4 Ensure vendor and subcontract personnel within responsibility understand and comply with current environmental regulations.
  • 5 Carry out Emergency Response role.
  • 3) Maintenance
  • 1 Facilitate maintenance operations by applying/removing isolations as required.
  • 2 Operation under PTW system, Toolbox Talk and Risk Assessments.
  • 3 Advise maintenance personnel on hazards of plant and equipment.
  • 4 Facilitate maintenance operations related to preservation when required.
  • 5 Maintain clear and precise communications during maintenance operations.
  • 4) Emergency Response
  • 1 Carry Out Emergency Response role.
  • 2 Demonstrate competence in Emergency Response drills and exercises.

Pre-hire Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience and/or qualified to N/SVQ Hydrocarbon Processing Level 2 or similar qualification level from country of origin.
  • 3 years’ experience of hydrocarbon processing systems and utilities.
  • Knowledge of ESD F &G and DCS operation.
  • Good understanding of Permit to Work, Mechanical Isolation Standards and Risk Assessment.
  • Medically fit according to The Company GEMS Instruction Health Requirements to Work Offshore.
