Introduction

SBM Offshore, a leader in Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) solutions, is committed to ensuring the safety and efficiency of its operations in line with its 2050 net-zero emissions goal. This project aims to digitalize the firewater demand calculation process, improving engineering processes during the design of the facilities and  enhancing safety measures in FPSO operations.

Central to this project is the use of AVEVA's engineering database and software solutions, which provide a comprehensive and integrated environment for engineering, design, and information management, facilitating the digital transformation of industrial operations.

Project Scope

1. Identify Input and Method: Review standard methods for firewater demand calculation, considering FPSO specifics.

2. Data Availability in AVEVA: Explore the AVEVA engineering database to identify available data pertinent to firewater calculations.

3. Develop AVEVA Template: Create an automated template in AVEVA Engineering for obtaining information and performing calculations.

4. Export Template for Reporting: Generate a template for official reporting, ensuring compliance and standardization.

5. Interface with Project Schedule: Determine interface requirements for typical project schedules to ensure timely information availability.

Project Relevance:

This project aligns with SBM Offshore’s focus on digital transformation in the energy sector, especially in renewable energy, gas, and digital services. The digitalization of firewater demand calculations directly supports SBM Offshore's commitment to safety and efficiency in FPSO operations, which are crucial for sustainable energy transition.

AVEVA's Role:

AVEVA's versatile and configurable engineering software, which allows for efficient multi-discipline collaboration and integration with a range of process simulation, design, and engineering technologies, will be instrumental in this project. This aligns with the company’s aim to automate and integrate engineering processes.
