Sr. Process Engineer – Turret Mooring Systems


Department information

Currently we are looking for an experienced Process Engineer to reinforce the Process discipline. The Process discipline in Schiedam office has the task to provide process engineering activities for topsides and mooring system projects managed from SBM Schiedam and SBM Monaco (process studies, proposals, FEED and EPCI projects).


Job description

As a Senior Process Engineer you will take the role of Focal Point for Turret Mooring Systems and Loading Terminal projects and act as Lead Engineer for Turret Mooring system projects and/or as Area Lead for Topsides projects. You will also contribute to the expertise and knowledge within the Process discipline, develop/improve corporate engineering calculation tools and guidelines and provide support to ongoing projects executed in our Schiedam office.


Other tasks belonging to this role include:

  • Preparation of discipline hour estimates and resource & activity planning
  • Lead/attend design review meetings and participate in HAZOP and Layout review meetings
  • Act as consultant and mentor to less experienced engineers to ensure knowledge transfer, product memory and application of best engineering practices.
  • Perform activities in compliance with SBM Group Technical Standards, Engineering Standards, corporate Processes and Work Instructions.


Job requirements


Furthermore, you have the following skills and experience:

  • Capable of managing a small team of process engineers (typically 2 – 3 engineers/designers)
  • Development of PFD, P&ID, Equipment Datasheets, Instrument Datasheets, SAFE Charts, Cause & Effect Diagrams, Process Safeguarding documentation and Design Philosophies
  • Good interface knowledge with related engineering disciplines, i.e. Piping, Instrumentation, Mechanical Equipment, Mechanical Design and Safety & Loss Prevention
  • Conversant with relevant international standards applicable to hydrocarbon processing industry, such as API, ISO, ASME, IEC, etc.
  • Familiar with design review methods, such as HAZID, HAZOP, SIL Assessment
  • Software experience: Hysys and/or UniSim; transient hydraulic calculation software (e.g. Pipenet or Flowmaster)
  • A pro-active approach and not afraid to take initiative
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language in verbal and written communication
