The Structural Topsides discipline consists of Structural Topside engineers and designers. The Structural Topsides discipline provides Structural Engineering to the Group Product Lines. This includes studies, proposals, technology development, Pre-FEED projects, FEED projects, EPCI projects and brownfield projects. The team is responsible for design calculations, 3D modeling, construction drawings, and MTOs for FPSO and other offshore structures.
Currently we are looking for a Structural Topsides (Junior) Engineer to reinforce the Structural Topsides Discipline.
Job description
As a Structural Topside Engineer, you will be responsible for performing structural design calculations for offshore topsides structures, such as FPSO topsides modules, flare towers, and hull integrations. These calculations will be conducted using Finite Element software (GeniE, Femap), in-house developed software, or hand calculations.
Key scopes are:
- Perform structural calculations for offshore topsides structures.
- Prepare and review construction drawings and material take-offs (MTOs).
- Assist in the development and maintenance of design standards, procedures and tools.
- Support the preparation of technical reports and documentation for project deliverables.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay updated with the latest engineering practices and technologies.
Job requirements
SBM Schiedam is looking for candidates who have an MSc or BSc degree or equivalent (i.e. Professional Certification) in Mechanical, Civil, Offshore, Naval or Aerospace Engineering with the specialization in structural analysis of offshore topside structures. You have 1 or 2 years of relevant working experience with the structural design.
Furthermore, you have following characteristics:
- Technical knowledge of structural analysis of topside structures.
- Knowledge of rules of classification societies (i.e. ABS, DNV, BV and Lloyds).
- Preferably you have experience with finite element software GeniE.
- Professional communication in English (verbal and written).
- High energy, enthusiasm, and a sense of urgency in tackling tasks and challenges.
- Strong planning and prioritization skills to meet organizational goals.
- Resilience and the ability to rebound from setbacks and adversity.
- Adaptability to new technology and sustainable developments.
