Role overview:
As Supply Chain Manager China, you act as the local ambassador of Supply Chain. Fully aligned with the Strategy and initiatives of both Group Supply Chain and China General Management, you translate them into operational plans and supervise their execution. You manage department budget, oversee resource allocation, manpower planning, determine the need for subcontracting activities and for supporting procurement activities at construction yards. You are responsible for monitoring team performance.
Main responsibilities:
Staffing: ensure that proper resources are allocated to project / operations for China
You partner with Global Strategic Sourcing, Global Supply Chain Excellence, Supply Chain Discipline Managers and Project & Operations’ management to develop, monitor and implement staffing plans to ensure that resources’ requirements are met for current and future workload needs
You coordinate with other regions to identify mutually beneficial opportunities with regards to staffing needs
Ensure alignment with internal and external stakeholders
You actively engage with department heads to optimize all relevant working relationships
You ensure that all relevant stakeholders are promptly informed of project developments
You support project execution by aligning with discipline managers to anticipate relevant actions
You ensure that Company processes are understood and implemented
You develop and maintain relationships with key regional vendors, in alignment with the Category Management team as needed
Interface with Group Supply Chain and other Regional Centers’ Supply Chain departments
You ensure that local initiatives are aligned with Group Supply Chain’s strategy and objectives
You actively participate in the Group Supply Chain initiatives
You provide feedback and lessons learned from Projects and Operations on Supply Chain’s tools and processes
You permanently support strategic sourcing and vendor management activities for China
Effectively manage talents
You ensure that employees in the team have the right competencies to enable current and future business priorities
You provide regular feedback to the team, ensure performance issues are addressed promptly, and partner with HR to promote a motivating working environment.
You promote talent growth by ensuring talents have sufficient growth opportunities, exposure, and opportunities within the Region/Country/ other Functions/other regions when applicable.
Education:
- Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications, such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD), can be an asset.
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in Supply Chain management, with at least 5 years in the oil and gas or similar relevant industry.
- Proven track record in managing end-to-end supply chain processes, including strategic sourcing, procurement, logistics.
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing supplier relationships, including contract negotiations and performance monitoring.
- Strong understanding of local regulations, customs, and compliance in the oil and gas sector.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large budgets and complex projects activities across multiple locations.
- Strong leadership in maintaining and growing a multi-sites team aiming for a collaborating, sustainable and highly efficient team.

- Supply Chain: Applies knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain core competencies
- Purchasing Tools & Processes: Ability to apply knowledge and understanding of the work processes defined within SBM Supply Chain System, specifically in Global Enterprise Management System (GEMS) and all Supply Chain related systems and tools management.
- Business Acumen: Ability to understand how business works and apply knowledge to plan and execute its own work; ability to understand the strategy within a global context; ability to understand relationships between different functions and overall performance of the Company
- Compliance: Ability to understand the risks related to your role and how to conduct your activities in compliance with the applicable laws and regulations, in each of the countries were we operate, as well as our Code of Conduct and values;
- Contractual and commercial: Knowledge of (SBM) contracts and the ability to apply practical contractual judgment and make contractual recommendations to achieve optimal returns for SBM. Ability to quantify contractual risks. Ability to identify the impact of project decisions on other projects, contracts and subcontracts and ensure appropriate Management of Change where necessary.
