  • Onshore Base Support: Ex Integrity Expert (Functional Manager)

Background

  • The EX Inspector will exhibit exemplary safety and engineering skills in all matters pertaining to electrical/ instrumentation inspection and repair works on and the vessel upon which they are working.
  • They are the person with overall responsibility of inspections and repairs of Ex equipment.
  • This includes coordination and management on behalf of their Line Manager any Ex related activities, including third-party Ex-inspection teams on board the vessel. Additionally, the Ex-Inspector will be responsible for Ex guidance, coaching and mentoring of the core-crew, including the use of the Ex Electronic Management System
  • Deemed the Unit “Ex Responsible Person”. Responsible for the management of the on-board Ex Electronic Management System, which shall include but not limited to data entry, data output, reporting and trending. Responsible for management of the Ex-Equipment Register and the Certificate Database.

Accountable For: Responsibilities & Standards

  • 1) Implementation of Management System

  • Create work orders in the CMMS for Ex preventative, maintenance and repair work, including follow-up and close out.
  • 2 Responsible for the Ex-Maintenance Management System (Ex MMS) and the Ex Certificate Register.
  • 3 The Ex-Inspector will make all reporting using the Ex Maintenance Management System (Ex MMS) and CMMS, as necessary.
  • 4 The Ex-Inspector is responsible for accurate timely reporting and taking appropriate actions in line with targeted Ex KPI’s.
  • 2) Manage Effectively
  • 1 Ex guidance and coaching of the core-crew where applicable, including the use of the Ex MMS Tool.
  • 2 Coordinate all the inspections and repairs of Ex equipment. This includes coordination and management of any third-party ex-inspection teams on board the vessel.
  • 3 Manage the Unit Ex visual, close and detailed inspections, plus maintenance and repairs (as directed by their supervisor and within the limits of their competency and Ex certification).
  • 4 Ensuring allotted work is carried out safely, efficiently and according to procedure and that his/her supervisor is made aware of all activities, especially where safety is an issue.
  • 3) Continuous Improvement
  • 1 Make recommendations and improvements in working practices for greater safety, efficiency and reliability.
  • Refer technical queries (as required) promptly to the Ex Onshore support
  • 2 Monitor and maintain pollution control measures.
  • 3 Provide additional duties as required by the OIM and/or HOD to maintain the safe and efficient running of the Unit.
  • 4) Emergency Response
  • 1 Carry Out Emergency Response role (See Station Bill).
  • 2 Demonstrate competence in Emergency Response drills and exercises.

Pre-hire Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified to NVQ Level 3 (or recognized equivalent) in Electrical and/or Instrumentation Maintenance Engineering.
  • Experience in electrical inspection and repair, with Oil & Gas (offshore or petrochemical or refinery) preferred.
  • COMPE-EX Certified.
  • Good understanding of Permit-To-Work systems, Electrical Standards (for example, IEC 60079, NEC500/505, API RP14FZ) and the Risk Assessment process.
  • Proficiency in English at a minimum of A2 level according to the CEFR international standard.
  • Medically fit according to The Company GEMS Instruction Health Requirements to Work Offshore.
