Purpose
- As Operations Technical Autority, you provide Regional Ownership and accountability of fleet Safety and Environmentally Critical Element (SECE) Performance Standards within their discipline. You act as part of the local Technical Team in assuring the status of the SECE within your scope.
Responsibilities
- You travel to all units within your scope at least twice a year to maintain a strong connection with front-line operations.
- You provide independent technical advice to regional personnel, ensuring clarity and confidence in operational decisions.
- You act as the technical liaison between your discipline, the Operations Risk Team, and subject-matter experts.
- You contribute your expertise to local SBM initiatives, enhancing safety and operational excellence.
- You support Major Accident Hazards (MAH) risk management by participating in Operational Risk Assessments and ensuring alignment with company standards.
- You accept and oversee Operations Performance Standards for your discipline, reviewing and endorsing proposed changes before escalating to the Global OTA (OTA2).
- You evaluate and approve changes to tag lists and assurance EMS tasks during project phases, ensuring alignment with assurance requirements.
- You review and endorse Execute Phase Assurance Reports developed by R3 Process Safety Engineers for new units.
- You approve updates to EMS and Safety and Environmentally Critical Element (SECE) tag lists as requested by Reliability Leads, ensuring compliance with guidelines from the Global OTA.
- You monitor KPIs for barrier health in your discipline and escalate concerns to Operations Management.
- You conduct periodic document reviews to ensure SECE performance and barrier strategies align with the unit's Safety Case.
- You oversee MAH Risk Assessment and Safety Case Reviews for Brownfield Modifications or Life-Extension Projects.
- You escalate significant findings from verification and assurance processes to ensure appropriate action is taken.
- You prepare an annual report on Barrier/SECE management status and the effectiveness of Verification and Assurance Schemes for OTA2 and Regional Operations Management.
Education
- Minimum Bachelors degree within the discipline for which you are an authority.
Experience
- Experience in technical or engineering roles. At least 5 of those years within an operations setting
